Police Find Cassie’s Body After Ross’s Statement | Coronation Street
A turbulent week is set to unfold across Weatherfield, with tensions rising both on the familiar cobbles and far beyond them. Away from the streets of Coronation Street, Sarah Platt finds herself in a tense encounter with a fellow inmate named Casey, who pressures her to ask her former partner Kit Green for help with a private issue. Kit is already struggling with problems of his own, particularly concerning Sarah’s difficult son Harry.
Meanwhile, Sally and Tim Metcalfe are finding life increasingly challenging with their foster daughter Lucy Parkinson, while Eedris Nazir resorts to desperate measures by arranging an unlawful poker tournament in a bid to raise enough cash to purchase Speed Daal.
At the same time, Bernie and Dev Winter-Alahan are surprised when a mysterious stranger connected to their past turns up at their home. Todd Grimshaw spots Celeste, portrayed by Frances Barber, and the pair soon cross paths again when she turns up outside the undertaker’s. She asks about arranging a funeral while enjoying a drink at the Rovers.
But what exactly is Celeste planning? Elsewhere, Nina Lucas receives major news as she gets ready to begin a fresh chapter of her life away from Salford.
Number One
Kit Green finds himself struggling with Harry Platt. Adam Barlow manages to convince a hostile Harry to attend his Little Big Shots 𝒹𝓇𝒶𝓂𝒶 class by tempting him with the possibility of playing the lead in Bugsy Malone. Although the idea succeeds in getting Harry into the building, Kit is left questioning his own abilities as a parent.
During the class, Harry’s temper gets the better of him when he smashes Jake Windass’s headphones after Jake makes comments about Sarah. Glenda Shuttleworth tries to calm Kit down and reach him, but when she fails, Adam takes charge and brings Harry back to Bethany Platt.
Adam later confronts Kit, accusing him of failing to take enough responsibility for the boy. He then contacts Sarah in prison and tells her exactly what he thinks, warning that Harry desperately needs consistency while Kit has repeatedly failed to provide it. Later, Adam and Bethany put forward an alternative arrangement to Kit.
They suggest that Harry should stay with him for the rest of the school break, believing that the responsibility for looking after him should be shared.
Adam subsequently takes Harry to the holiday club where they meet a woman called Lottie. She introduces herself and reveals that she has recently relocated to the area, while her son is preparing to begin at Bessie Street Juniors.
Number Two
Sarah Platt faces intimidation from another prisoner. After returning from Thailand, Todd discovers that Sarah has sent him a prison visiting order. When they finally meet, he reassures her that he still considers her a close friend and tells her that his love for her has never disappeared.
Sarah opens up about her decision to split from Kit, explaining that she ended their relationship because she wanted to safeguard his police career.
However, life behind bars becomes even more frightening when Casey turns up at Sarah’s cell in tears. She reveals that her son has been arrested over an alleged armed robbery and pleads with Sarah to persuade Kit to intervene. Sarah insists that she and Kit are no longer together and says there is nothing she can do.
Casey responds with a threatening warning that leaves Sarah deeply unsettled.
Fearing that the situation could worsen, Sarah calls Todd and explains what has been happening. Todd advises her to reconsider and contact Kit directly, adding that if she refuses, he will approach Kit himself. Back in Weatherfield, Todd finds Kit and tells him that Sarah needs to speak with him.
Although Sarah did not explain the reason for the request, Todd insists that the matter is serious. Kit eventually goes to see Sarah in prison where she admits that she is in desperate need of his assistance.
Kit reminds her that becoming involved with Casey’s son could put his career at risk, pointing out that Sarah ended their relationship specifically to keep his job out of danger. But Casey’s behavior soon becomes even more aggressive as her intimidation turns physical. Before leaving Sarah, she delivers a disturbing warning that Sarah will pay the price if anything happens to her son.
Number Three
Lucy Parkinson finds it difficult to cope without her parents. Shona Platt proposes that she and Sally have lunch together, hoping the gathering will allow Lily Platt and Lucy to repair their relationship following their previous confrontation. During lunch, Lily gives Lucy a sincere apology in the form of a letter.
She also talks about the death of her mother Kylie, admitting that she can relate to some of the emotions Lucy is experiencing. Sally is moved by the moment and embraces Lucy, suggesting that the two girls could one day grow into very close friends.
Later, Sally and Tim reassure Brody McAlister that his sisters Joni and Sinead will be able to see their mom once they come back from Spain. Lucy, however, becomes increasingly resentful as she longs to have contact with her own father, Richie. When Lucy asks whether she could at least speak with Richie by telephone, Tim refuses her request.
Upset by his decision, she reacts angrily and then refuses to sit down with the family for dinner.
As the situation continues to deteriorate, Sally and Tim acknowledge that they may have taken on more than they can handle. Tim then gives Sally some upsetting information, revealing that social services have contacted them and that Lucy is scheduled to meet her prospective foster parents the next day.
The following morning, Tim accidentally drops a pan, creating a sudden and frightening noise. Lucy immediately becomes distressed and runs out into the garden. Tim follows her and attempts to calm her down, reassuring her that she has just as much right to call their house home as everyone else.
Number Four
Richie Parkinson pressures Tim Metcalfe to deceive the police. Tim receives a prison visiting order from Richie and is surprised when his cousin makes an urgent request during their meeting. Richie asks Tim to back up his account of what happened by telling police that he acted in self-defense.
He believes this is his best opportunity to avoid being sent to prison. Tim refuses to go along with the lie, leaving Richie furious. Richie then reminds him that he would never have been able to return home to his wife Rachel without Tim’s previous help.
Now Tim must decide whether he is willing to risk everything to help his cousin.
Number Five
Idris Nazir secretly organizes an illegal poker game at Speed Daal. Adam advises Alya Nazir to reject Idris’ proposal and remain firm until he agrees to pay the full value of her share in Speed Daal. Alya subsequently makes her expectations perfectly clear to her uncle.
She wants 50,000 pounds and Idris must either pay the amount or abandon the deal.
Later, Sam Blakeman sits down with Idris for a game of chess at the restaurant. When Ollie casually reveals that he used to enjoy playing poker, Idris suddenly comes up with a potential solution to his financial problem. Idris later admits that raising the final 15,000 pounds required to meet Alya’s demand is proving harder than expected.
Leanne Battersby offers him a 5,000 pound loan, appearing to give him some much-needed financial relief.
However, Idris secretly reserves Speed Daal for a private gathering and recruits Ollie and Lauren Bolton to assist him. He tells them that he intends to stage a poker evening, but insists that Alya and Leanne must remain completely unaware. Idris privately explains his scheme to Ali.
He plans to give him the money needed to enter the game, manipulate the circumstances so that Ali has a strong advantage, and then take a percentage of his winnings.
Unfortunately for Idris, Lauren overhears the conversation and warns him against getting involved. Brody has already told Kit about the secret poker night, and Kit later arrives at the restaurant. He manages to convince an unwilling Idris to allow him to participate.
Among the players is the suspicious Fiona Morley, who demands that the amount being wagered be increased. The illegal poker session finally begins with Idris carefully monitoring every hand. Meanwhile, Brody sneaks behind the bar and quietly helps himself to several alcoholic drinks.
