Chris Watts, the man serving multiple life sentences for the murders of his pregnant wife and two young daughters, is reportedly planning to walk down the aisle again behind bars.
According to court documents and reports, the 41-year-old inmate has found a new romantic partner in Lizzie Henderson, a 39-year-old Ohio realtor who has already moved to Wisconsin to be closer to him. Henderson reportedly filed to change her last name to Watts last September and has submitted a marriage request to prison officials, according to her former stepfather.
Henderson admitted the relationship might seem unusual to outsiders but offered few details on how they connected. āHow things began is between me, him and God,ā she told the Daily Mail. When asked about Wattsā crimes, she said, āHe knows.
He knows how I feel. I donāt know all the people involved, but I would want to respect them.ā
The couple has reportedly been seen sharing affectionate moments during prison visits. One witness, Lisa Johnson, told the Daily Mail she spotted the pair kissing and hugging during a visit last August at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin. Johnson described Henderson as āgoogly-eyedā and noted Watts was holding a Bible during the visit.
Henderson has visited Watts 20 times in 2025 and spent Christmas Day with him in 2024, according to reports. Inmates in Wisconsin are allowed only a brief embrace at the end of visits, and conjugal visits are not permitted.
Watts is serving five consecutive life sentences for the 2018 murders of his wife Shanann, who was 15 weeks pregnant, and their daughters Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3. He reportedly confessed to the killings after initially claiming to be a concerned husband.
While behind bars, Watts has reportedly attracted a number of female admirers and pen-pal relationships. What does this new chapter say about the search for connection in the most unlikely of places?
