Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) revealed a massive family secret to Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) in Coronation Street today.
The new face arrived earlier this year. He rocked up to Weatherfield in his posh car and fancy clothes, and immediately caught the attention of Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
Idris is a charmer and hugely ambitious. In the latest episode of the ITV soap, he approached cousin Alya about the shares she has in Speed Daal.
Alya manages a lot where the world of business is concerned. She collaborates with Leanne at the restaurant, and also works alongside partner Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) at the solicitors.
She’s incredibly busy, and Idris tried to argue that she’d feel less stressed if she wasn’t juggling things at Speed Daal.
The proposal was incredibly sudden, and a surprised Alya didn’t have the time in her day to consider selling up.
Irritated that he hadn’t got his own way, Idris later revealed a piece of family information to his relative.
How is Idris related to Alya in Coronation Street?
Idris revealed to an absolutely stunned Alya (and me) that he isn’t actually her cousin, he’s her uncle.
Alya’s father is Kal Nazir. His dad was Sharif, Yasmeen Nazir’s (Shelley King) partner.
Sharif had an affair with Yasmeen’s friend for years. After it was exposed at a party, Sharif left the family home.
It was confirmed that this wasn’t the first time Sharif had slept around, as Idris confirmed that he had sex with his brother’s wife.
Idris was born, making him Kal’s half-brother and Alya’s uncle.
It was also confirmed that Yasmeen knew about this, but was sworn to secrecy.
How did Kal Nazir die in Coronation Street?
In May 2015, Kal proposed to Leanne in the Rovers’ back yard, but realised that he didn’t actually have the engagement ring.
Later, Kal and Leanne discovered a fire developing at the Victoria Court flats, and realised that Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) was trapped inside Number 12.
Kal and Leanne went in to try and save Amy, but the trio became stuck when the roof caved in and blocked the door.
The emergency services arrived and managed to get Amy and Leanne out of the building, but a gas canister caught fire and exploded, which killed Kal.
What will this family revelation mean for Alya and Idris?
Alya wasn’t able to ring Yasmeen about the secret due to her being on holiday. While she was in shock, it seemed Alya wasn’t going to let it change her dynamic with Idris.
The newcomer later told Leanne that he hopes Alya will decide to sell her shares in Speed Daal. After discovering that Yasmeen kept the truth from her for years, Idris believes that Alya may no longer feel quite so loyal towards her.
And Leanne? Well, all Leanne could think about was how she’s now slept with brothers Kal and Idris…which technically makes her as bad as Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) sleeping with both Battersbys.
