During a training session in Chattanooga, Tennessee, right-back Marcos Llorente emphasized the importance of getting the ball to Yamal. With Spain flying out to Los Angeles for their first match in the round of 32 at SoFi Stadium, the team is focused on maximizing their offensive strategy.

Spain, considered one of the tournament favorites, topped Group H but had some shaky moments against Cape Verde and Uruguay. Meanwhile, Yamal is working hard to regain his full match fitness after recovering from an injury.

Llorente, who has been a key player in two of Spain’s group matches, shared insights about his developing partnership with Yamal. “We are learning to play together,” Llorente noted. “Lamine is a special talent who thrives in one-on-one situations. Sometimes, it’s best to let him do his thing without crowding him.”

In the group stage, Yamal’s playing time varied—he clocked in just 19 minutes against Cape Verde, scored in a 45-minute appearance against Saudi Arabia, and played 76 minutes in the match against Uruguay.

When asked if he had consulted teammate Eric García, who often plays alongside Yamal at Barcelona, Llorente admitted he hadn’t but acknowledged the importance of communication on the pitch. “We discuss what Lamine needs during games. The more we talk, the better we can work together.”

Llorente also addressed the unfortunate injury of teammate Nico Williams, who expressed his heartbreak on social media after struggling with injuries leading up to the tournament. “It’s tough for him, especially after everything he’s been through,” Llorente said. “But he’s staying positive, and we hope he can contribute later in the tournament.”

As Spain prepares for this crucial match, the anticipation builds. Will Lamine Yamal shine and lead his team to victory? Fans are eager to find out.
