HBO pulled off a crossover of epic proportions in the latest episode of Westworld.
The dystopian drama debuted a brand new Delos theme park this week, inspired by fantasy medieval culture.

One scene showed two employees working on the design of a familiar-looking dragon and they turned out to be none other than Game of Thrones bosses David Benioff and D B Weiss.
Given the pair’s experience working with mythical beasts, who better to design them for the sinister conglomerate?
Fans took to Twitter in disbelief after clocking the winged beast and the TV masterminds.
“Benioff and Weiss running Game Of Thrones Westeros world. In Westworld! Is that Drogon?” one asked.

A second joked: “Me, last year: I’m done with Game of Thrones, I don’t care anymore. They burned me.
“Me, tonight: OH MY GOD DROGON MY BABY!!!!!! Westworld.”
A third joked: “Turns out Game of Thrones Season 8 was just a malfunctioning Westworld simulation.
“All was going according to plan until Dany glitched out and flipped into murder mode, because of two incompetent tech guys who didn’t translate her narrative properly.”
While a fourth also noted that one of Cersei Lannister’s dresses was visible in the background.
“So, Game of Thrones was just another park in Westworld – love it. Peep Cersei’s dress in the back,” they quipped.
While at first glance the crossover between the two shows may seem utterly random, George RR Martin, who penned the Song of Ice & Fire series upon which Game of Thrones is based, actually called for the crossover years ago.
Westworld producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy entertained the idea back in 2016, and four years later the cameo has finally received the green light.
“He’s a lovely guy and a stunning writer and it’s flattering he would encourage a crossover. We should be so lucky,” Nolan said.

“We’ve got an awful lot of material to cover just with Westworld, but you want to stay tuned,” she added.
Then in season 2, Westworld paid homage to the Westeros epic with a subtle Easter Egg.
The iconic gyroscope from the Game of Thrones opening credits appeared in the Forge’s library in an easy-to-miss shot.
Westworld’s final season will consist of just eight episodes, compared to the ten of previous seasons.
