Max Verstappen’s father Jos commented on how his son left scathing comments on the Las Vegas GP.
The race weekend in Las Vegas GP has been one of the most anticipated events in the entire F1 calendar this year. After 40 long years, the Formula One circus returned to the Sin City and it was the first time that such a massive race was being held on the world-famous Vegas Strip flanked by huge casinos on both sides. But F1’s reigning World Champion Max Verstappen did not seem at all impressed with the glitz and glam that the FIA had promised to deliver at the Las Vegas GP. This was their biggest chance to increase F1’s viewership in the United States by organizing for a high-profile race that trumps even the SuperBowl in terms of net cost.
Ever since the start of the weekend, Max Verstappen remained very critical of each and every proceeding. As it is with almost all debutant circuits, the Las Vegas GP had its own faults. The Free Practice sessions turned out to be a nightmare on Thursday since FP1 was stalled by Carlos Sainz’s accident involving the manholes on the Strip. The FP2 session was held without a single audience in attendance even though they had paid tickets for it. Max called this out and said he would ‘tear the whole place down’ if he were in the fans’ place.
The Dutchman also said the Las Vegas GP opening ceremony was a clownshow. He followed that up with claims that the race is 99% entertainment and 1% real racing. But Jos Verstappen does not agree with how vehement his son Max was in his criticism against the Las Vegas GP.
You can always say certain things, sometimes you have to be a little more delicate. I think he gets tired of too many people , Max is someone who loves to run as you can see.Jos Verstappen said, as reported by Corriere Dello Sport.
Despite the early hiccups, Jos Verstappen claims Las Vegas turned out ‘absolutely fantastic’
The initial days in Las Vegas were not too favorable for the F1 squads as the organizers forgot to weild the manholes shut, they made a complete show out of the drivers during the opening ceremony, etc. And for Red Bull, the circuit did not act favorable as Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was equalling Max Verstappen in his RB-19 rocketship almost every time. At the Qualifying, Charles managed to bag the pole position.

But during the course of the race, Max Verstappen overtook his rival from the Maranello outfit expertly. At one point in time, even Max’s teammate Sergio Perez, who was nowhere in contention for the race win, was also leading the pack. Due to the number of overtakes that made the Las Vegas GP quite thrilling, Jos Verstappen gave his verdict on how it finally turned out.
You can’t just take it all in without looking first. Sometimes there are tracks that are less fun but in the end the race was absolutely fantastic.
Max Verstappen took over 2 minutes to fully explain his issues with the Las Vegas GP and it really shows how much he lives & breathes motorsports.
Every fan and F1/Liberty Media executive should watch this. Everything he said is 100% correct. pic.twitter.com/cchI663AaC

In other news, Max Verstappen also did a complete 180 degree on his earlier comments about the Las Vegas GP. He said he loved racing at the new circuit and would be excited to come back again. However, he urged the FIA to set a different date and time for the event since the temperatures and the timings posed several problems for the drivers who are not accustomed to cold nighttime races.
