The colors of frogs are much richer than what most people can imagine. Besides the famous poisonous frogs in South America, there are many less-known brilliant frog species in different parts of the world.
Common reed frog (Hyperolius viridiflavus). Size: 2-3 cm long. Distribution: Tropical and subtropical areas of Africa.
Red-eyed tree frog (Agalychnis callidryas). Size: 5-7 cm long. Distribution: Rain forests from Mexico to Colombia.
Australian green tree frog (Litoria caerulea). Size: 8-12 cm long. Distribution: Northern and eastern regions of Australia and lowlands of New Guinea.
Wallace’s flying frog (Rhacophorus nigropalmatus). Size: 7-10 cm long. Distribution area: Malay Peninsula and islands of Indonesia and Malaysia.
Yellow-bellied frog (Chaperina fusca). Size: 2-3 cm long. Distribution area: Forests in Borneo, the Malay Peninsula and the Philippines.
Cochran’s seed frog (Cochranella granulosa). Size: 2-3 cm long. Distribution: High mountain and lowland forests in Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.
Cinnamon frog (Nyctixalus pictus). Size: 3-4 cm long. Distribution: Undergrowth and shrubs of forests in Peninsular Malaysia, Philippines, parts of Sumatra and Borneo.
Bright-eyed green frog (Boophis viridis). Size: 2-3.5 cm long. Distribution: Forested areas with many streams in Madagascar.
Golden mantella frog (Mantella aurantiaca). Size: 2-2.5 cm long. Distribution: Wetlands in a relatively small part of Madagascar.
Tree-climbing mantella frog (Mantella laevigata). Size: 4-5 cm long. Distribution: Tropical and subtropical forests of Madagascar.
Green-legged mantella frog (Mantella expectata). Size: 2-3 cm long. Distribution: Rocky streams and canyons in Madagascar.
