Discovered fish species with transparent blood
Adding to the collection of ocean mysteries, Japanese scientists have discovered a species of Ocellated fish with completely transparent blood.
This “unique” fish was discovered living in the cold waters of Antarctica. It also lives like other fish, the only difference is that its blood is transparent because it does not have hemoglobin. That is an anomaly because all vertebrates need hemoglobin to transport oxygen throughout the body, except for Ocellated fish.

In addition, their scaleless skin is said to absorb oxygen from the ocean. However, the real reason why Ocellated fish do not have Hemoglobin is still confusing scientists.
Expert Satoshi Tada of Tokyo Aquarium said there is currently very little information about this special fish. Tokyo Aquarium is the only unit in the world that owns a pair of Ocellated fish (male and female), brought to Japan by fishermen in 2011.
