A massive Ā£20,000 reward is now on the table as detectives push to solve the 18-year-old mystery of a teenage boy who vanished without a trace from his North London home.
Alex Sloley was just 16 when he disappeared from Islington in August 2008, and his case has haunted investigators and his family ever since.
The Metropolitan Police have revealed that Alex was a victim of exploitation at the time, allegedly being pressured into criminal activity by local gangs.
Now, authorities are releasing two new age-progressed e-fits showing what Alex might look like at 34, hoping someone will recognize him.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarb Kaur is making a direct plea to anyone who was caught up in gang exploitation in North London around 2008.
“You will not be in trouble, but you may hold key information which could help us piece the jigsaw together,” Kaur said in a statement.
The reward is being offered for any tip that leads directly to Alex, with cops believing that time may have shifted loyalties and opened doors for new information.
Alex was reported missing by his family on August 8, 2008, after they hadn’t seen or heard from him.
At the time, he was described as around 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build and striking blue eyes.
Over the years, multiple reported sightings have come in, but none have given detectives the breakthrough they need.
“We remain committed to this investigation which I believe can be solved,” Kaur added, urging anyone with information to come forward and do the right thing.
