Coronation Street has aired an unsettling new scene surrounding Cassie Plummer’s disappearance after her unexpected exit from Weatherfield this week.
The development followed Monday’s episode in which Cassie decided to leave the Cobbles behind and begin a new chapter working as a cleaner aboard a cruise ship.
Her decision came after several Weatherfield residents, including her son Tyrone Dobbs, turned against her in the aftermath of Tracy Barlow’s accidental spiking.
Before leaving, Cassie said an emotional farewell to Fiz and her grandchildren before accepting a lift to the train station from Ross.
Steve McDonald happened to witness her getting into the car.
During the journey, Cassie managed to make Ross admit that he had given the spiked smoothie to Tracy instead of consuming it himself, despite the fact that she had originally prepared it for him as part of a plan to get rid of Tracy.
Following a heated exchange between the pair, matters took a sinister turn when Ross locked Cassie inside his car and drove away with her.
In tonight’s episode, Ross began his first shift in his new prison job with Tyrone asking him over breakfast whether he was feeling nervous.
After briefly discussing his earlier experiences working in prisons, Ruby mentioned that she was missing Cassie.
Fiz then comforted her saying, “We’re all missing Granny Cass, love.”
Later, Ross, Tracy, Tyrone, and Fiz met at the Rovers where they discussed how Ross had got on during his first day at work.
Fiz had already made it clear to Ross that she knew Cassie had entered his vehicle after overhearing his confession to Steve.
However, she remained suspicious when Ross joined her at the bar and began questioning him about what had happened during the journey.
Fiz specifically asked Ross where he had left Cassie, prompting him to claim that he had dropped her at Piccadilly Station.
When Fiz continued pressing him for more information, Ross became defensive and questioned why she was so interested.
This eventually prompted Fiz to reveal that nobody had heard from Cassie since she left, something she admitted she found weird.
Ross attempted to put Fiz’s concerns to rest by insisting that Cassie’s lack of communication was entirely typical of her.
He claimed that, based on what he knew about Cassie, her sudden radio silence was completely in keeping with her behavior.
Although Fiz appeared to accept Ross’s explanation during their conversation, her suspicions remained once she returned home.
She decided to try calling Cassie’s phone, but the call immediately went through to voicemail.
During their earlier confrontation, Fiz had warned Ross that he would be out of her life if she discovered that he had crossed the line again.

Although Christina admitted what she had done and even attended a support meeting for people struggling with addiction at the community center, her problems did not disappear.
Todd soon discovered that Christina was still secretly spending money and had failed to regain control of her finances.
Next week, George and Christina are excited about an upcoming trip to Somerset, where they are due to visit George’s cousins.
However, Todd later informs George that Christina has continued spending behind his back.
George is furious and decides that Christina will no longer be joining him on the trip, choosing instead to travel to Somerset alone.
Hoping to take her mind off the situation, Christina heads to the Rovers with Todd for a night out.
But despite her attempts to enjoy herself, Christina eventually admits that she cannot shake the feeling that she may have permanently damaged her relationship with George.
With George now refusing to take her on the trip, Christina fears that she could have pushed him too far.

Toward the end of last week, viewers were introduced to Tim Metcalfe’s previously unknown cousin Richie, who had never been mentioned before.
After claiming that he had fallen out with his wife Rachel, Richie ended up spending the night on the sofa at number four.
Richie eventually returned home, but Tim later noticed that his cousin had forgotten his wallet.
When Tim went to take it back to him, he was shocked to discover blood covering Richie’s shirt.
The story continued on Tuesday when Tim’s neighbor, DS Lisa Swain, arrived at the house to deliver some 𝓈𝒽𝓸𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃𝑔 news.
Lisa, who is also leading the investigation into Theo Silverton’s death, informed Sally and Tim that Richie had been arrested and charged with murdering his wife.
Lisa then questioned Tim about what he knew about Richie’s relationship with Rachel.
However, Tim admitted that he knew very little about his cousin’s marriage.
Later, Tim encountered DC Kit Green at the precinct.
Kit, who recently split from Sarah after she ended their relationship to protect his police career, found himself discussing the strange coincidence that both he and Tim had become involved in separate murder investigations.
As the episode approached its conclusion, Tim began reflecting on Richie’s unexpected arrival and wondered whether he could have handled the situation differently.
He also became increasingly concerned about what the events could mean for Richie’s young daughter, Lucy, who has now been separated from both of her parents.
Speaking to Sally, Tim admitted that Richie had spent two nights sleeping on their sofa because he was attempting to stay away from Rachel.
Tim realized that this should perhaps have been a warning sign that Richie was either frightened of his wife or worried about what he might do to her.
He explained that Richie had clearly wanted to remain away from home, but Tim had not believed that his cousin’s marriage was beyond saving.

The latest storyline immediately divided viewers, with some questioning the decision to introduce Tim’s long-lost cousin purely to create another murder mystery.
A number of fans also pointed out that Lisa Swain, played by Vicky Myers, appears to be taking on an extraordinary number of major investigations, particularly given her personal connections to several people involved in the stories.
One viewer questioned why Tim’s cousin had been introduced solely for a murder storyline, suggesting that the writers appeared to have run out of ideas for Tim and Sally.
