After the critical and commercial success of 2018’s soft reboot of the God of War franchise, Sony and developer Santa Monica Studio are gearing up to deliver the highly anticipated next chapter in the iconic series. And if the newly unveiled teaser trailer for “God of War: Rage of Kratos” is any indication, the gameplay and narrative are poised to take a decidedly darker, more visceral turn.
The trailer opens on a scene of pure desolation – a bleak, snow-swept landscape littered with the ruined remnants of a bygone civilization. As the camera pans across this frozen wasteland, the familiar gruff narration of Kratos, the series’ brooding protagonist, can be heard.
“The gods have forsaken us,” he intones solemnly, the weight of his words underscored by a somber, foreboding musical score. “Their treachery and cruelty have brought ruin upon the realms.”
