Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has shown no signs of slowing down at age 39, and he had a good-spirited laugh at what great shape he’s still in this week.
James posted a photo onΒ his Instagram storyΒ from Tuesday’s game against the Toronto Raptors and joked, “Maybe I should lay off leg day [one] day this week.”

Of course, James is one of the most gifted athletes we’ve ever seen across any sport. That’s why he raised eyebrows earlier this week when he revealed that he doesn’t have much time left in the NBA.
“Not very long,” heΒ saidΒ after dropping 40 points in Sunday’s win over the Brooklyn Nets. “Not very long. I’m on the other side, obviously, of the hill. So I’m not going to play another 21 years; that’s for damn sure. But not very long. I don’t know what or when that door will close as far as when I retire, but I don’t have much time left.”
James scored 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting with nine assists to help lead the Lakers to a 128-111 road victory over the Raptors. In addition to his strong outing, D’Angelo Russell scored a team-high 25 points and Anthony Davis added 21 points and 12 rebounds as Los Angeles earned its seventh win in its last eight games.
The blowout win allowed James some extra minutes of rest by exiting early in the fourth quarter, something that he cherishes at this stage in his career.
“It absolutely helps,” he said. “Every minute counts. I was able to get back here and get going on the treatment and my prep, and start preparing my body, hopefully, for tomorrow night.”
The Lakers will try to keep the momentum going when they close out their six-game road trip on Wednesday night against the Washington Wizards.
