Devin Booker has scored 58 points or more in a game on four occasions during his Suns career.
Phoenix Suns star guard Devin Booker is just 27 years old and has been in the NBA for less than a decade, yet he has already staked his claim as one of the best scorers ever to play for the Suns franchise.
Booker’s best scoring display of his NBA career
Booker holds four of the top five scoring performances in franchise history, headlined by his franchise-record 70-point performance against the Boston Celtics in 2017, which happened seven years ago today. The only other major scoring performance belongs to former NBA player Tom Chambers when he dropped 60 points against the Seattle Supersonics.
The 27-year-old shot 21-of-40 from the field, 4-of-11 from deep, and converted 24 of his 26 free-throw attempts against the Celtics, for whom point guard Isaiah Thomas led the way.
Booker did most of his damage against Boston in the second half, as 51 of his 70 points came in the final two quarters. But despite Booker’s historic scoring outburst, the Suns still lost to the Celtics by a final score of 130-120 to fall to 22-51 on the season.
What are his other scoring performances in the top five in Suns history?
The Suns guard also boasts the second-best scoring performance in the franchise’s history. In January of this year against the Indiana Pacers, he totaled 62 points on 37 field shots and contributed five rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two blocks.
But Booker’s Suns suffered the same fate that they did when he torched the Celtics for 70 points, as the Pacers beat the Suns by two points after outscoring them 28-17 in the fourth quarter.
Booker has put together two more scoring masterclasses that rank among the best in franchise history. He totaled 59 points on 19-of-34 shooting from the field in a 32-point loss to the Utah Jazz in March of 2019.
Furthermore, he accumulated 58 points in a win against the New Orleans Pelicans in December of 2022.
