Ahsoka Tano is one of the most iconic characters of the Star Wars franchise. Out of the many shows that have been released as of late, Ahsoka is one that is loved by fans greatly, attracting both praise and audience approval. This came to be after her character was disliked when first introduced. Following this contrast, another interesting fact that was revealed might be even more shocking.

Despite all that came to be with Rosario Dawson’s character, Ahsoka was meant to have a completely different name instead of the one she is connected to now. It is a story similar to that of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick, who too, was meant to go by a completely different name than what was finalized.

Ahsoka Tano Had A Different Name Originally

Dave Filoni, the creator of Star Wars: The Clone Wars gave an interview with Vanity Fair where he talked about the entire process of making the 2008 science fiction series. He explained that filmmaker, George Lucas, came up with the name Ahsoka, however, this wasn’t originally the name that they were going to go with.

“We called her Ashla in the beginning. That was 2005, and that worked on several levels for me. I think it was the name given to one of the [young Jedis Yoda was training] in ‘Attack of the Clones.’ There was a little Togruta girl. We kicked around the idea that maybe that was Ahsoka but then we thought the age didn’t really work out for it to be the same character. She was too young in the film.”

The name ‘Ashla’ was under consideration, which was something the voice actor of the character, Ashley Eckstein, found a little odd as it felt, to her, like a play on her own name. The reason for this choice of name was because in Attack of the Clones, there was a young Togruta girl with the same name. While they initially played with this idea for a bit and thought it would fit, they soon realised that the age of these two characters would not match. This led to the creation of Ahsoka.

John Wick Was Orignially Called ‘Scorn’

It seems that Keanu Reeves’ John Wick went through something simliar, however, the only difference was that instead of the charcter being named something different, it was the film itself. During an interview with Comicbook, it was revealed that the original name of the film was Scorn, Derek Kolstad, the arcitct on the film, revealed that the only reason for the change in name for the actor himself.

“The only reason it’s called John Wick is that Keanu kept referring to it as John Wick,” Kolstad says, adding, “Marketing was like, ‘Dude, that’s four to five million dollars in free advertising so far, so it’s John Wick instead of Scorn.’ I can’t imagine it being Scorn now.”

Elaborating on this, he revealed that Reeves, accidentally, kept refering to the film as John Wick rather than its intended name. This resulted in the marketing deparatment running along with the free adversiment that he had provided for the wrong film, changing the name of the film.
