The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live star Pollyanna McIntosh explains the complex reasons why Jadis is loyal to the CRM and their goals.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live star Pollyanna McIntosh has opened up about Jadis’ loyalty to the CRM, explaining the complex reasons behind her alignment with the group. Jadis was revealed to be a high-ranking member of the CRM in another spinoff, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, while the latest series showcases how loyal she truly is to them. At the start of episode 3, she threatens to tell them about Alexandria if Rick and Michonne are able to successfully escape together.
Speaking with AMC Talk, McIntosh explained Jadis’ complex reasons for being loyal to the CRM throughout The Ones Who Live‘s story. The actor discussed how the loyal solider is hoping for safety from the group, but also believes in their goals enough to dedicate her life to realizing them. Check out what McIntosh had to say below:
It was loads of fun. It’s one of those wonderful situations for an actor, and it’s also quite challenging. You’re checking in on where she would be physically, where she would be mentally. She’s in this new place and she doesn’t fit in yet, and she loves to have her place sorted. She couldn’t really find her place in Alexandria. She sure as heck found her place at the Heaps. So, I think with the CRM she’s thinking, “Well, I want to make a name for myself here. I want to be safe.” I think that’s what most people in the apocalypse are looking for is, “I want to be safe. I want to be assured that I can live.”She also holds this almost cultish belief in this organization, so she believes, “We are the last light of the world. We can do all these great things — you’re awesome so you should join us too.” Of course, Rick is having none of it. I also think there’s a slightly resentful side of her for everything that happened under him in Alexandria. Fair leader though, he was. She’s always been a survivor and now she’s like “Screw you! I’m not going to put myself on the line for you.”
Jadis Has No Intention Of Helping Rick & Michonne
While threatening Rick, Jadis tells him that she has plans in place for the militarized organization to learn about Alexandria in the event of her demise. Even though the show’s main duo could try and kill her because of the information she holds, doing so would doom the Virginia communities, making it seem like escape for them both is impossible. It also reveals just how much she believes in the CRM’s 500-year plan to restore humanity, indicating their goals to be convincing and realistic.
Since she’s been part of the CRM for much longer than she was with the core survivors, it makes sense for Jadis to maintain loyalty to her current home. While she herself admits there’s a part of her that doesn’t want to destroy Alexandria, her willingness to do so shows she has no intention of helping Rick and Michonne escape. Despite the core duo jumping out of a helicopter at the end of episode 3, she will likely search for them to ensure their true fate.
RELATEDThe Walking Dead Hilariously Calls Out An Awkward Truth Everyone Has Been Thinking For Nearly 3 Years
Despite the intense nature of The Ones Who Live’s third episode, the spinoff hilariously calls out an awkward truth that everyone has noticed.
Due to her loyalty to the CRM, it seems Jadis knows all about what the group is trying to accomplish, something that even made Pearl turn against Rick in episode 3. Alongside looking for protection and wanting to build a better future, there appears to be a deeper reason for her commitment to the cause. With three episodes left, The Ones Who Live will no doubt explore these reasons more deeply before the series comes to a close.
