Striker Kylian Mbappe was once again not allowed to play the full 90 minutes in PSG’s Ligue 1 match.
In PSG’s 0-0 draw against Monaco in round 24 of Ligue 1 this morning (March 2), Mbappe, as usual, was placed in the starting role. However, right after entering the second half, the French star had to make way for Randal Kolo Muani.
This is the second match in a row that Mbappe has been taken off early by coach Luis Enrique. Previously, in the draw with Rennes a week ago, the 25-year-old striker left the field in the 65th minute, making way for Goncalo Ramos. Mbappe is completely healthy and not injured, but was still let off.
This is considered a tactical change because coach Enrique is trying to prepare for life without Mbappe. In the summer of 2024, the French player will leave PSG on a free basis, so the Spanish strategist needs to let the team gradually get used to it from now on.
Against Monaco, Mbappe was not on the bench during the second half. However, he still greeted fans, took selfies and signed autographs before moving to the stands to sit next to his mother and representative, Ms. Fayza Lamari.
Previously, coach Enrique admitted that the reason he withdrew Mbappe from the field early in the match against Rennes was because he wanted his team to “get used to playing without Kylian. When I want to play like this, I will.” So, if not, then that’s it.”
According to world media, Mbappe has signed a contract with Real Madrid until 2029. He will officially become a member of Los Blancos from July 1, 2024.
