Max Verstappen & the violent blood inherited from his father

Bad father

If you only follow Max Verstappen on social networks and see a few photos taken when he was crowned F1 2021, perhaps your first impression of this 24-year-old guy is quite gentle. Max has a gentle face and a somewhat more mature fashion style than some players in the F1 village (like Lewis Hamilton, for example).

However, behind that benign appearance lies a complex interior. In a recent interview with The Sun, Max did not hesitate to admit that he is an aggressive racer. The blood flowing in Max’s body contains a lot of “gene code” of rudeness, impatience, and even violence inherited from his father Jos “the Boss” Verstappen.

Max’s father was also an F1 driver, even competing alongside legendary Michael Schumacher. However, Jos was not famous as a racer, but left in F1 history countless bad impressions of his violent personality. Jos Verstappen’s youth was filled with criticism of his violent and hooligan behavior. He was even arrested by the police for threatening… to kill people.

Max inherited his father’s hot temper, and his father inherited his violent personality from Max’s grandfather – an ice cream seller. In 1998, 5 years before Max was born, Mr. Jos and his father were each given a 5-year suspended prison sentence for assaulting a 45-year-old man to the point of fracturing his skull. In December 2008, Mr. Jos was summoned to court again for… beating his wife. Mr. Jos was punished for “violent language and intentionally damaging his wife’s car three times.”

In 2011, Max Verstappen’s father was in court again for attacking… his ex-lover in the Venlo hotel (in the Netherlands). One year later, Mr. Jos intentionally drove his car straight into his ex-girlfriend. He went to trial again for intentional murder. Jos was detained for 2 weeks in the camp and then released because the court did not have enough evidence to convict

Strange way to teach children

Jos accompanied his son Max throughout the Red Bull racer’s childhood. He is a major influence on Max’s playing style today. However, Jos’s way of educating his children is not like an ideal father.

In Max Verstappen’s memory, Mr. Jos was a strict father to the point of absolute love. At the age of 15, Max made a relatively elementary mistake at the Sarno racetrack (Italy) that made his father extremely angry. After yelling at Max, Mr. Jos threw his son into his van, drove to a gas station and threw him onto the street.

Mr. Jos left his son alone in a strange place. He waited there for a long time before his mother drove to pick him up. After that emotional violence, Max did not talk to his father for a week.

In addition to treating his children extremely harshly, Mr. Jos also instilled in Max’s mind hatred for all opponents. “My dad doesn’t like to compromise. For many years, he poured into my head the fire of hatred for his opponents on the racetrack,” Max recounted.

One of his son’s enemies that Mr. Jos hates the most is Lewis Hamilton. Mr. Jos once rushed to attack Hamilton after the British racer’s car crashed into Max’s car at this year’s Silverstone racetrack. “Max will never talk to Lewis as friends. I know they did talk while standing on the podium, but they only said a few random sentences. Lewis is nothing to me,” Mr. Jos clearly expressed his dislike for his son’s opponent.

“No one in this world treats me as harshly and strictly as my father. For that reason, I have no reason to fear other riders. Dad inherited my aggression,” Max said.

Mercedes boycotted the FIA

To express its dissatisfaction with the decisions of the F1 World Federation (FIA), the Mercedes racing team refused to appear in the FIA’s year-end photo shoot. This is a photo shoot for the FIA’s year-end gala. However, Mercedes representatives were not present at the photo session and will not send anyone to the gala. Mercedes believes that the FIA made decisions to suppress Lewis Hamilton, creating conditions for Max Verstappen to win the championship.

Red Bull celebrated until 7am

To celebrate Max Verstappen’s F1 championship, the Red Bull racing team rented a yacht on Yas Island and celebrated loudly until 7am. However, the main character of the party, Max Verstappen, did not appear until the end of the party. According to records, Max got into a friend’s car and left the party at 4:30 am. This party was attended by all Red Bull members, including Director Helmut Marko and CEO Dietrich Mateschitz.
