Emma Stone after revealing her strong desire to be a contestant on Jeopardy! was delighted to play a quiz game on Tuesday on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The 35-year-old actress while promoting her latest movie Poor Things was asked by Stephen, 59, about applying to be on the Jeopardy! quiz show.
Emma while wearing a black blazer and matching skirt said she has taken the online quiz that is made available once a year for potential contestants.
‘It doesn’t tell you how you did so you have to wait and see if you get an email within 12 months,’ Emma said.
‘Why don’t you do Celebrity Jeopardy?,’ Stephen asked.

‘I don’t want to do Celebrity Jeopardy,’ Emma said.
Stephen pointed out to Emma that she’s a celebrity and any Jeopardy! show she goes on will be a Celebrity Jeopardy.
‘No, that’s not true. If you know that you applied, you took the quiz, you got on the show by actually having the brains to be on the show,’ Emma said.
‘Not that Celebrity Jeopardy people don’t have the brains, because I’ve seen some impressive candidates. However, I just want to know that I passed the test. This might be because I didn’t really graduate from high school and I didn’t go to college, and I like knowing I passed the test,’ Emma said.
Stephen then revealed that they had prepared a Jeopardy!-style quiz for her.
‘Oh, boy. Now you’re going to understand why I haven’t gotten on the show,’ Emma said laughing.
Stephen explained that the questions were going to be either The Late Show themed or Ed Sullivan Theater themed.
‘Emma Stone, welcome to Jeopardy. First question, Stephen Colbert is such a fan of this author’s work, he aired his concerns with Peter Jackson about the Elves of Mirkwood,’ Stephen said.

‘Who is the author of Lord of the Rings, Tolkien,’ Emma correctly answered.
Emma got the next question right, too, when she correctly answered that ‘Ed Sullivan’ brought many new artists into the homes of Americans.
‘It was rumored that the crime rate dropped dramatically during their February 9, 1964 appearance on ”The Ed Sullivan Show”,’ Stephen said.
‘Who are the Beatles?,’ Emma answered.
‘Yes, Beatles. These, by the way, are all actual questions that have appeared on Jeopardy,’ Stephen said.
‘Oh, exciting,’ Emma said with a big smile.
She got the next question wrong and exclaimed ‘dammit’, but bounced back with a correct answer.
‘This singer’s hip gyrations on ”The Ed Sullivan Show’ in 1957 were not shown because they were deemed too sexual,’ Stephen said.
‘Who was Elvis Presley,’ Emma correctly answered.
‘Yes, correct,’ Stephen said.
‘On January 30, 2024, Emma Stone appeared on ‘The Late Show’ in support of her outstanding performance and Oscar nomination for this film,’ Stephen said as Emma laughed.
‘What is…being here with you tonight,’ Emma answered.
‘I’m sorry, we were looking for Poor Things,’ Stephen said as Emma dropped her head into her hand and giggled.
Emma has been nominated for the fourth time for an acting Oscar for her work in Poor Things and also has been nominated as a producer.
‘It’s very exciting, just for the entire crew. It was many years in the making. We’re very, very excited,’ Emma said.
Poor Things was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma said they have worked together four times.
‘This was our third time and then we made another film,’ Emma said. ‘This was our third and we made another one last fall after we made Poor Things. It’s called Kinds Of Kindness.’
