One Piece has been teasing a major surprise arrival to shake up the battle in Egghead, and here are all the characters who could show up soon.
The latest chapter of One Piece hinted at a major imminent arrival on Egghead Island that could change the course of the arc. This has left fans scrambling for hints as to who these new characters may be and if they’ve appeared in the series before. Of course, given how interconnected the many parts of Eiichiro Oda’s manga are, it is very likely to be a group that readers have seen before.
At the end of chapter #1105, a Buster Call is officially initiated against Egghead Island. In all the chaos that ensues, some of the soldiers on a sinking Navy ship frantically mention that they failed to destroy an escaped Egghead ship, and that a certain person or group of people is coming to Egghead Island.
This mysterious group must have the power to destroy a full ship of Marines, which makes them pretty strong. Based on the hints and clues dropped in the manga until now, there are three main possibilities regarding the mysterious group that’s about to show up in Egghead Island.
Blackbeard and His Crew
Luffy’s Dark Foil Was Seen Near Egghead Last
One option is Blackbeard and his crew. They are known enemies of the government and are already playing a larger role in the Final Saga. After they have recently captured Luffy’s grandfather Garp, the Blackbeard Pirates have not been seen, but chapter #1079 showed a brief glimpse of Blackbeard’s ship sailing near the coast of Egghead, so it’s at least confirmed that they are on the scene.
It’s unclear, however, what the Blackbeard Pirates’ objective may be. Teach is a shrewd and cautious man, and he’s wary of antagonizing the World Government too openly. Considering that one of the Five Elders is on the island, and a Buster Call is ongoing, Blackbeard’s plan must be subtle. He could show up in the nick of time, just like he did at Marineford, and capitalize on a conflict he’s not involved with.
The Straw Hat Grand Fleet
Luffy’s Closest Allies Are Likely To Show Up To Save Him
After hearing that their leader was in trouble on Egghead Island, the members of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet could have rushed over to save them. It has been a while since some members of the Grand Fleet have shown up and with Luffy wielding the full power of a Yonko now, it only makes sense for them to play a larger role as the scope of the story increases. It is unclear which members of the fleet this may be, but no matter who shows up it would be refreshing to see them again.
The Straw Hat Grand Fleet is currently the most likely candidate to show up at Egghead. Right after the alliance was formed, the narrator voice of the manga mentioned that, in the future, they would cause “a great incident of historic proportions”, and these are the same words that have been used to describe, or rather tease, the conclusion of the Egghead Arc.
The Revolutionary Army
Kuma’s Friends Could Follow Him To Egghead
Given Dragon’s history with Vegapunk and the Revolutionary Army’s deep ties to Kuma, they could be on their way to Egghead Island to strike a decisive blow against the World Government while aiding their friends. Like with Blackbeard’s crew, the Revolutionary Army has also already been shown in the Egghead Island arc, making it more likely for them to reappear in this dramatic moment.
Not too long ago, Kuma ran away from the Revolutionaries’ base and, as seen in recent chapters, he was headed to Egghead to save his daughter Bonnie. It makes sense then that his closest friends and former allies would follow him, even if the timing doesn’t make much sense. Kuma used the powers of his Paw-Paw Devil Fruit to travel at high speed from Kamabakka to Egghead, while the Revolutionaries would have to follow using more conventional means, but the idea still can’t be ruled out completely.
No matter who shows up on Egghead Island however, whether it is the Revolutionary Army, Blackbeard, or the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, this is sure to escalate the conflict and make One Piece‘s current arc even more intense.
