‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’: Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp cried as the Anfield stadium resounded with a song of regret about his departure

Before Liverpool’s FA Cup fourth-round match against Norwich, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ reverberated across Anfield, bringing Jurgen Klopp to the brink of tears.

After announcing on Friday that he would be leaving his position as manager of Liverpool at the end of the current campaign, the 56-year-old left the stadium on Sunday afternoon to an electrifying scene.

Prior to kickoff, thousands of supporters sang their iconic anthem with great enthusiasm, and after receiving a standing ovation on his walk to the Anfield bench, Klopp looked moved.

Vicki Sparks, a BBC pundit, saw Klopp’s response to the performance of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” before kickoff. “The emotion you can see is swelling up in his heart,” she continued.

It’s evident on his face. He’s attempting to maintain order.”

In an interview on Friday, the German manager—who had a deal with Anfield that expired in 2026—talked candidly about his unexpected decision to leave Liverpool after nine years.

“I know that many people are shocked to learn about it for the first time right now, but I can definitely explain it, or at least try to,” he said in an interview with the club’s website.

“I adore everything about this team, the staff, the city, our supporters, and this club in general. My favorite things are all together. I adore everything. However, the fact that I am still going with this choice indicates to you my conviction that it is the right one.”

“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy,” he continued. Naturally, I have no issues at all right now. I have known for a while that I will eventually need to make an announcement, but for now, everything is perfect. I am aware that I am unable to complete the task repeatedly.”
