In a recent interview, Jennifer Lawrence bravely addressed the oppressive standards in Hollywood, recalling being labeled a ‘fat actress’ by industry norms. However, the star looked radiant and elegant, a far cry from that narrative as she graced the New York premiere of her film Silver Linings Playbook. The 22-year-old Hunger Games sensation donned a sophisticated black tuxedo, exuding confidence and grace at the Florence Gould Hall in New York City.
Adding a touch of allure, the actress elevated her ensemble by revealing a glimpse of her bra beneath the jacket, accentuating her striking décolletage. A feminine flair was infused through the scarf delicately tied around her neck, while towering platform heels accentuated her stature. Jennifer completed the alluring aesthetic with her freshly dyed brunette tresses styled in a playful ponytail, complemented by a dramatic smokey eye
Injecting a vibrant touch, she accessorized with a lively pink clutch bag, adding a playful contrast to the ensemble. During the event, the star was captured in snapshots alongside Director David O. Russell, exuding sophistication in his black suit, paired with a shirt and tie under a navy sweater.
Notably, Silver Linings Playbook co-stars Bradley Cooper, portraying a teacher grappling with depression, who is later released into the care of his mother (Jackie Weaver) and father (Robert De Niro).
In the film’s narrative, his character’s attempts to reconcile with his wife take an unexpected turn when he finds himself drawn to Tiffany, portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence, a complex and unstable woman.
Director O’Russell’s decision to cast Bradley Cooper came after Mark Wahlberg’s departure from the project. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, O’Russell highlighted Cooper’s sincerity, openness, and vulnerability as an intriguing combination that captured his attention.
The film is adapted from the Matthew Quick novel of the same name.
Jennifer has a busy year still ahead of her with promotional duties for thriller House at the End of the Street, while the sequel to The Hunger Games is in pre-production.
She is also soon set to reprise her role as Mystique in sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Meanwhile, Jennifer recently opened up about her weight in a new interview – insisting she will never go hungry for a role.
The Hunger Games star told the new edition of U.S. Elle that she has a healthy appetite – and would never starve herself for a film role.
She also says that by Hollywood standards, she is considered ‘a fat actress’.
‘In Hollywood, I’m obese. I’m considered a fat actress,’ Jennifer told the December issue of the publication.
All-grown up: The look was certainly the actress’s most grown-up look yet
Collaborators: At the event the star posed with Director David O. Russell, who looked dapper in his own black suit worn with a shirt and tie underneath a navy sweater
‘I’m Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach,’ she added, referring how the once-buff Kilmer has piled on the pounds over the years.
She goes on to discuss her eating habits: ‘I eat like a caveman. I’ll be the only actress who doesn’t have anorexia rumors.’
And she says not even a film role could persuade her to shed weight – so won’t be following in the footsteps of starlets such as Mila Kunis, Natalie Portman and Anne Hathaway.
Flawless: There was not a hair out of place in the star’s glamorous appearance
Glossy: Jennifer’s newly-dyed tresses tumbled down her back
Jennifer explained: ‘I’m never going to starve myself for a part. I keep waiting for that one role to come along that scares me enough into dieting, and it just can’t happen. I’m invincible.’
The actress says she wants to be a good role model for her fans, sharing: ‘I don’t want little girls to be like, “Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner.”‘
‘That’s something that I was really conscious of during training, when you’re trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong, not thin and underfed.’
Dramatic role: Jennifer plays the role of an unstable woman in the drama
Elsewhere during the interview, Lawrence lifts the lid on her relationship with her British actor boyfriend Nicholas Hoult.
She gushed: ‘[My boyfriend] is honestly my best friend, and hopefully I’m his best friend too. He’s my favorite person to be around and makes me laugh harder than anybody.’
Jennifer goes on: ‘We can eat Cheetos and watch beach volleyball and we turn into two perverted Homer Simpsons, like, “Oh, she’s got a nice ass.” I never thought we’d have such different opinions on asses.’
