I thought I had finally put my past behind me, but then the lawsuit landed on my desk, and I knew exactly who was behind it. Ali was smiling like she had won, and Carrie was convinced someone was...

I was standing in my office, trying to make sense of the lawsuit papers Ali had just served me, when Craig walked in with a stack of convention materials. He took one look at my face and asked if I was okay. I told him Ali was causing a big problem. She was suing me, and I had a pretty good idea who was behind it—her mother.

Meanwhile, Ali was practically glowing. Carrie noticed the smirk on her face and asked what was going on. Ali said she was taking control of her life, filing something, but she wouldn’t say what. Carrie pressed her, but Ali just smiled and said she was filing away her winter blues.

Nancy thought she was getting weird. Carrie knew better. Carrie had just gotten back from Las Vegas with me, and someone had taken photos of us and e-mailed them to Austin. She was convinced Ali was behind it, but Nancy insisted Ali was on a trip with her mother at the time.

Carrie didn’t know who else could have done it. She was determined to protect me and the hospital, and she was going to find out who sent those photos. Craig and Nancy were in on it. They had helped Ali, and now they were panicking.

Nancy was furious that Ali had sent the photos to Austin without telling them. She demanded the pictures and negatives, and Ali told her they were in her locker. Nancy wanted to kill her. Craig told her to calm down, that no one was onto them.

But Nancy knew Ali was a time bomb. Ali was playing a dangerous game. She was going to let her mother and the lawyers sock it to me, and she had her eyes on Carrie. She was planning to take care of her, very good care.

I was holding Carrie, trying to reassure her that everything would be okay, but I knew it wouldn’t be. Not with Ali and her mother out to destroy me. Meanwhile, Sami had escaped from death row, and she had taken Will. Austin was helping them.

They were on a train, heading to Canada, where they planned to live with Tracey’s friends in a commune. Sami told Will they were going to be together, and she promised she would never leave him again. Lucas was frantic. He knew Sami had taken his son, and he was convinced the police weren’t doing enough.

He yelled at Tracey, accusing her of helping Sami and Austin. Abe and Roman tried to calm him down, but Lucas was beyond reason. He was hiring private investigators, dozens of them, to find his son. He was going to turn the whole world upside down if he had to.

Roman had a hunch. Tracey had mentioned a place called the James Bay Commune, and he thought Sami might be heading there. He left to check it out, leaving Abe to deal with the fallout. Lucas was furious that Roman had let Tracey go, and he was sure Roman would let Sami go too if he found her.

Kate tried to calm Lucas down, but he was inconsolable. He had already paid for his mistakes, and now he was being deprived of his son again. He was determined to find Will, no matter what it took. Meanwhile, Bo was trying to convince Victor to attend Vivian’s dinner.

Vivian was dying, and she wanted to make amends for her past. Bo believed that if Victor could forgive her, he might have a future with Hope. Victor was reluctant, but he finally agreed to go with Kate. Stefano was suspicious of Nicholas, Vivian’s nephew, who had suddenly appeared in Salem.

He accused Nicholas of being after Vivian’s inheritance. Nicholas denied it, saying he just wanted to spend time with her. Stefano warned him to stay away, but Nicholas was determined to be there for his aunt. John was trying to move on from the past.

He had told Hope, or Gina, that he was done searching for his memories. He wanted to focus on his life with Marlena. But Gina was obsessed with him, and she was afraid of losing him. She knew about the suppression device in his brain, and she was determined to find a way to reactivate it, to bring back the man she remembered.

Marlena was worried about John. She could see that Hope’s obsession was affecting him, and she was afraid he was getting pulled back into the past. John assured her that he was done with it, that he was focused on her and the children. But Gina was not going to give up so easily.

As the train crossed the border into Canada, Sami and Will were safe. They had made it. Sami thanked Tracey in her mind for the letter that had gotten them through. She was finally free, and she was never going to let anyone take her son away again.

But Lucas was not going to give up. He was going to find his son, no matter what it took. And Ali was not going to stop until she had destroyed me.

The battle was just beginning.
