Steve Somers was of course one of the highlight guests on Evan and Tiki during their Throwback Thursday show, and he made it clear that he has not been a fan of the Mets offseason.
Mainly, he wanted to see New York go after Matt Chapman to play third base.
“[Brett] Baty, he shows potential, but I would have loved to have seen the Mets get a third baseman who has been a Gold Glover,” Steve said. “I would have loved to see the Mets get Matt Chapman. They certainly could use another outfielder.”
Steve also wasn’t happy with the latest from Aaron Rodgers, who continues to feud with Jimmy Kimmel and the media, which Steve says needs to end now.
“All of the BS that he wants to see come to an end, it has to start with him,” Steve said. “Maybe he didn’t say Kimmel is a paedophile, but he certainly implied it…he ought to just stick, if he can, to football. Not COVID, not vaccines, not UFOs, and not any late night TV guys. Just stick to football and shut up.”
Steve wrapped up his call by reminiscing about the great Jerome from Manhattan, who he said was one of the most entertaining callers he ever had while hosting his show. Steve, Evan, and Tiki listened back to a classic clip of Joe losing it over Brian Cashman, to which Evan noted how far ahead of his time Joe was, given the fact that Yankee fans, over 20 years later, are still lighting up the phone lines to rip into the Yankee GM.
