Even though they haven’t returned to promoting yet, BLACKPINK’s influence is still at the top

Recently, BLINKs were sobbing when BLACKPINK inspired the Christmas choreography in the 2024 version of the movie Mean Girls. Specifically, the movie’s choreographer – Kyle Hanagami confirmed: “I feel like this generation grew up watching BLACKPINK, so when choreographing the Christmas dance, I said let’s put a little inspiration from BLACKPINK in it.”

Mean Girls is one of the American pop culture icons of the early 2000s. Among the classics, the Mean Girls quartet created fashion and lifestyle trends and became one of the most familiar movies. Every generation watches. Jennie is one of the Korean fashion icons whose style is influenced by this movie. During the In The Area tour, BLACKPINK once covered the song Jingle Bell Rock, with the choreography inspired by Mean Girls (2004).

As a “loop” of inheritance and development, Mean Girls 2024 is inspired by BLACKPINK. Recently, the movie had an early screening on January 9, receiving many compliments for the film’s humor, both satisfying old fans and recruiting new fans to the “meaningful girls” club.

Not only stopping at the charm and “slay” of the old Mean Girls quartet , the 2024 version of the Christmas choreography is more complex and bold with the characteristics of Kpop girlgroups. Some looks and gestures remind of BLACKPINK and the legendary Coachella stage.
