The Chiefs have unveiled the roster of Pro Bowlers: Did Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce make it?

The Chiefs still had five Pro Bowlers despite their rocky season

Mahomes and Kelce headline the list of Pro Bowlers for the Chiefs

Despite a regular season that might not have lived up to their high standards, the Kansas City Chiefs, reigning Super Bowl champions, continue to demonstrate their strength in the NFL. This strength is evident in the selection of five Chiefs players as AFC Pro Bowlers for the 2024 season, a significant achievement as they gear up for a crucial playoff run. These selections underscore Kansas City’s status as one of only seven NFL teams to have at least five players named to the Pro Bowl this year.

Among the Chiefs’ Pro Bowl selections are standout stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, with Kelce being named a starter. The Pro Bowl roster is determined by a combination of fan, player, and coach votes, with each segment contributing equally. Fan voting, which concluded on December 25, did not initially place any Chiefs player at the top of their respective positions. However, Kelce emerged as a top contender, securing the second spot among tight ends and ranking fifth overall with 327,263 votes. Joining Mahomes and Kelce are Creed Humphrey (a starter and the leading center in the AFC), left guard Joe Thuney, and defensive tackle Chris Jones, also a starter.

This year’s selection marks Travis Kelce’s ninth consecutive Pro Bowl honor, a testament to his consistent excellence. For Patrick Mahomes, it’s his sixth straight selection, mirroring his tenure as a full-time starter. Chris Jones celebrates his fifth consecutive selection, while Humphrey and Thuney are named Pro Bowlers for the second year in a row. Additionally, five more Chiefs players have been honored as alternates, including cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, guard Trey Smith, running back Isiah Pacheco, and linebackers Willie Gay Jr. and Nick Bolton.

This year’s Pro Bowl Games, returning to Orlando after a three-year hiatus, promise to be a spectacular celebration of the league’s top talent. Presented by Verizon, the event will feature a series of exciting activities culminating in a flag football game. The AFC-NFC face-off, coached by Peyton and Eli Manning, along with the Pro Bowl Skills challenge, will be broadcast across various networks, including ESPN, ABC, and Disney XD. While players in the Super Bowl typically forgo Pro Bowl participation, the Chiefs hope their players will be accepting their honors from a distance for the second consecutive year, focusing instead on another Super Bowl appearance.

As the NFL continues its unique tradition of combining fan, player, and coach votes to determine Pro Bowl selections, this year’s event in Orlando is set to be a memorable showcase of skill and sportsmanship. The Chiefs, with their strong representation, are looking forward to making an impact both in the Pro Bowl and in the postseason games ahead.
