Cole Palmer was on absolute fire for Chelsea in their 3-2 win against Luton Town yesterday.
Cole Palmer scored two goals and provided one assist to help Chelsea claim all three points at Kenilworth Road.
In doing so, the attacker has done something that no Chelsea player aged 21 or under has managed to accomplish since the 2019/20 season: reach 10 goal involvements in the Premier League.
Following his brace and assist against Rob Edwards’ side, Palmer now has 12 goal contributions in the English top flight.
It is really impressive considering that Palmer is still just 21 and only joined Chelsea in the summer.
Cole Palmer has end product
One thing that Palmer has shown since arriving at Stamford Bridge is that he can finish off moves and play the right pass.
The England international scored a lot of penalties at the beginning of his Chelsea career, but his last four goals have all come from open play.
His two goals against Luton were excellently taken; he has quickly proven that he is an attacker who can deliver in the final third. And with Palmer still being so young, the former Manchester City man has time to grow into an even more efficient footballer.
Speaking after the win at Kenilworth Road, Mauricio Pochettino said he was so pleased with Palmer, and you would imagine that Chelsea supporters feel the same way.
A lot of the Blues’ recent signings have not been instant successes. Mykhailo Mudryk, for example, did not score his first goal for Chelsea until this season despite having joined the club in January.
Palmer, though, has managed to make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge and has been an absolute revelation for Pochettino’s side. Without him, where would they be? Given that they are currently in 10th place, it is worrying to think about.
