Oda shows the Legendary Marines in God Valley in One Piece 1096.
One Piece is currently focusing on the events of God Valley and it is safe to say that this is one of the most exciting times for the fans to be reading the story. God Valley was first introduced between Act 2 and Act 3 of Wano and ever since then, fans have been impatiently waiting for this flashback to be illustrated by Oda.
Their prayers have finally been answered, as in the Final Saga of One Piece, fans get somewhat of a look at God Valley, thanks to Jewelry Bonney’s flashback of Kuma. One Piece chapter 1096, which is just around the corner, showcases powerful fighters arriving on God Valley and, among them are legendary Marines, most of whom fans did not know were on the island on this day, 38 years ago.
The God Valley Incident
The God Valley incident took place on the island of God Valley 38 years ago, on the same day then these Celestial Dragons were conducting their native hunting games. As explained in the previous chapter of One Piece, the Native Hunting Games sees these celestial dragons take an island unaffiliated with the World Government and turn it into their base for these games. Essentially, they hunt down the entire population of the island and after cleansing them, the island is then turned over to the World Government.
This native hunting games had a very intriguing reward, as clarified in One Piece chapter 1096. Those who win the native hunting games are given powerful Devil Fruits and Kuma and Ivankov aim to get their hands on these powerful fruits in order to make their escape. At the same time, it is likely that these fruits are what attracted the Rocks Pirates to God Valley. Fans get to see quite a lot of powerful members on this island and, together, they would have turned the entirety of this place upside down, and defeated even the powerful government officials. Naturally, to counter the threat of Pirates, the Marines mobilized a powerful group and this was confirmed in One Piece chapter 1096 as well.
Garp In God Valley
One of the most popular Marines to be present in God Valley was, without it out, Vice Admiral Garp. Fans know that Garp is a legendary Marine and it is exactly on the day of the God Valley Incident that he was declared to be the Hero of the Marines. He joined this incredible battle and fought directly against Rocks. This is something that was made clear to the fans in One Piece chapter 957 for the very first time. Garp combined his forces with Roger and, together, they took down the strongest pirate of the era. However, the government made it so that Garp received all the credit and, for that, he was declared as the Hero.
In One Piece chapter 1096, fans get to see Garp being sent to God Valley. Here, he will likely come face to face with his nemesis, Roger and, eventually, the two will join their forces to fight against Rocks. It is clear the Rocks was the strongest at this time and Roger was not at his prime either. Rocks was incredibly powerful, to the point where nobody around him could ever dare to stop him by themselves.
It was only through a coalition that he was finally taken down. At the same time, it is also revealed that Garp’s assistant, Bogard is also present in God Valley. Fans do not know how strong Bogard is, however, for someone to be the assistant to Garp would mean that they are exceptionally powerful.
Sengoku In God Valley?Sengoku of the Marines One Piece
Another powerful marine that could be in God Valley in One Piece chapter 1096 is none other than Sengoku. Fans know that Sengoku is one of the strongest Marines to have ever lived. In fact, along with Garp, he might just be the strongest of all time in this group. While Garp was just a Vice Admiral, it is likely that 38 years ago, Sengoku had already advanced to the rank of an Admiral. Fans know that Sengoku is incredibly powerful, being a user of all three Haki types. He is one of the very few Marines in One Piece who have access to Conqueror’s Haki. At the same time, he also has an incredibly overpowered Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, called the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu.
This Devil Fruit allows him to transform himself into a Giant Golden Buddha at will and produce shockwaves from the palms of his hands. Sengoku might also have taken part in the God Valley Incident, which explains how the Rocks crew was actually defeated. Garp and Roger alone would have fought against Rocks, while the rest of the crew would have encountered powerful Marines and World Government fighters. Sengoku must have been in the take of the battle on God Valley and fans can only hope that the next few chapters of One Piece throw some more light on these events. Sadly, fans didn’t get to see Sengoku anywhere on God Valley in One Piece 1096.
Fleet Admiral Kong In God Valley?
Another legendary Marine that could’ve been involved in the events of the God Valley Incident is none other than fleet Admiral Kong, and this was brought up in One Piece chapter 1096 as well. Kong was the Fleet Admiral when Sengoku served as the Admiral. Later on in the series, Kong was promoted to the rank of Commander in Chief, while Sengoku was made the Fleet Admiral. Regardless, during the time of the God Valley incident, Kong was seen in the Marine HQ. For a Fleet Admiral to leave his office is very rare, and that’s why he decided to stay behind and send Garp instead. Fans do not know anything about the level of strength that Kong possesses or how strong he truly was. Sadly, since he did not aid the Marines and the fight against the Rocks Pirates, fans did not get to see what he was truly capable of. It appears that Garp and Bogard were the main Marines on this island during the God Valley Incident. There are also many other powerful Navy members, however, most of them are nameless individuals who fans do not know much about.
It is clear to see why the Rocks Pirates struggled on God Valley and why they were destroyed. Garp, Bogard, and the other Marines together would have been quite a powerful team of individuals on the island.
One Piece chapter 1096 revealed quite a lot of intriguing information to the fans and, hopefully, more bits will be revealed along the way in the Egghead Island arc. The arc is heating up as it progresses towards its conclusion and Oda will most likely ramp up the intensity even further.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1096, is set to be October 29, 2023.
