On a chilly evening in 2019, T Grizzly and his aunt JB pulled up to his cousin’s house in Detroit. JB stayed in the car while T walked to the door. That’s when a gunman ran up, wrenched the car door open, and shot JB dead right there in the seat. At first, everyone assumed the shooter meant to hit T Grizzly, and that JB was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
A couple of months later, T dropped a tribute track for her. On it, he swore vengeance: “I pray they don’t go to jail. I want them dead. ” He said he was listening to the streets, waiting for a name, ready to put a million dollars on whoever did it.
It looked like he was ready to go to war over his aunt’s murder. But when T sat down for his first interview after JB’s death, something felt off. He spent the whole time playing Call of Duty, barely looking up from the screen. Talking about the night his aunt was killed, he sounded almost bored.
And he completely changed his tune about revenge. Instead of his earlier threats, he said, “You can’t just act on it. Let the police handle it. So, I just let the police handle it.
”
People handle grief differently. But the shift was strange. And it got stranger. In July 2025, news broke that a man affiliated with the 600 set, a guy named Wu Thang, had been arrested for killing JB.
The cops had found him with the murder weapon and the getaway car all the way back in 2020. They’d been on him for years, but the story only started coming out now. And Wu Thang’s lawyer began making explosive claims: that T Grizzly himself paid for the hit on his own aunt. The connection to 600 was curious.
T Grizzly had deep ties to that world. He’d linked up with Tay Capone, gone on tour with Lil Durk and OTF, and even dissed one of 600’s enemies on an unreleased track. He was especially close to a 600 affiliate named Bua. So when a 600 guy got booked for the murder, nobody understood why T was still cool with that crew.
A Chicago rapper named King Yella later said everyone in the streets already knew who killed JB before the cops even made an arrest. “I knew about that in my feds,” he said. “Y’all ain’t know that here? ”
If King Yella knew, chances were T knew too.
And T never cut ties with 600 after JB died. In fact, he kept rocking with them. In 2023, Lil Durk shouted T out on a track. But the same track contained some suspicious bars: “You a gangster around her, but you ain’t gangster around me.
You a gangster around cuz, you ain’t gangster around C. If they call you back door, man, you get from around me. ” A lot of people read that as a signal about T. Then people started revisiting the tribute track T made for JB.
He rapped lines that, at the time, made no sense: “You think they came for her, man, you know they came for me. ” He claimed the shooter saw it wasn’t him and still killed JB. But how would T know what the shooter saw? Back then, everyone thought JB was just collateral damage, and the target was T.
He also rapped, “Loved each other way more than we loved life. Was so close people thought we had a love life. ” That line, and the rumors that followed, painted a much darker picture. The main theory was that T Grizzly set up his own aunt to be killed.
But why? One rumor was that JB was skimming money from T’s earnings. There was no evidence for that, though. Another rumor did a lot more damage: that T Grizzly got JB pregnant and had her killed to cover it up.
JB wasn’t actually pregnant when she died. That detail only came out because Wu Thang’s defense lawyers brought up T’s name in court, claiming he’d paid for the hit. The prosecutors then released the coroner’s report to prove she wasn’t pregnant. But that didn’t clear T.
According to some sources, JB’s husband got locked up a few months before her death, and that’s when T started becoming romantically involved with her. They weren’t blood related, but she’d been his aunt since he was ten years old. It was a mess. The details of the murder itself poked more holes in T’s story.
Police reports showed that Wu Thang had been waiting near the house for two hours before JB and T arrived. He’d used his phone to track someone’s location. T always said the stop at the cousin’s house was a last-second decision. But a shooter waiting for two hours suggests he knew exactly where they were going.
Then there was the driver’s account. According to the driver, T got out of the car and the shooter opened the door just forty-five seconds later. That meant T was still outside, probably standing right there in the open, when the gunman ran up. T Grizzly is a huge guy.
Any shooter who had eyes on the car would have seen him. Yet the shooter went straight for JB. None of it added up. When the rumors finally reached T, he dismissed them with a shrug.
“You can see some shit dead in your face,” he said. “That’s not true. ” But his reaction didn’t convince anyone who was already suspicious. There were other stains on T’s reputation.
A source on Reddit claimed that before he blew up, T lived in a part of Detroit called Scudz Zone, run by a crew called RTM. That crew had beef with another set, and rumors linked T to the murder of a member from the opposite side. He’d also made a track with Detroit rapper Dex Osama, who was later killed. And T was seen hanging out with one of the men involved in Dex’s death.
Nothing concrete, but it added to the picture. Apparently the police had their own doubts. A blogger named Poetic Flaco claimed that the chief of police once told T Grizzly that he knew T was involved in JB’s death, he just didn’t know how yet. Now, with Wu Thang headed to trial, his defense lawyer is clearly going to try to pin the murder on T.
That means whatever evidence Wu Thang has told his attorney could surface in open court. Whether he’s talking to cops or not, Wu Thang is definitely talking to his lawyer, and his lawyer is talking about T. So far, there’s no concrete evidence that T Grizzly orchestrated the murder of his own aunt. But the case against him is built on a mountain of suspicion: the strange interview, the odd lyrics, the shooter waiting for hours, the 600 connection, the courtroom accusations.
T isn’t on trial for it today. But with Wu Thang’s case moving forward, there’s no telling what could come out next. Some people think the feds are already building an indictment to take T Grizzly down.
