Red Bull breaks into the primary reason behind Max Verstappen’s domination in 2023

Max Verstappen has had the most dominant season ever in Formula One, breaking numerous records, even one that had spanned over 70 years. Verstappen has been unbeatable throughout 2023, only losing three races in the year. The Dutchman claimed his third world title already, and heads into the last two races as the World Champion.

Red Bull’s Christian Horner and Max Verstappen

No driver has been able to achieve what Verstappen has, so questions have arisen on how the Dutchman is performing at the level that he is. Making barely any mistakes in the entire season, Verstappen has put up an almost inhuman show of pace, and Christian Horner explained why Verstappen could do so well.

Further, team principal Christian Horner said that Verstappen can read a race over a long period, driving for the long term rather than scrapping over a few laps. Horner lauded Verstappen for his “inner confidence” of knowing his position as the best in the sport.

I think that everybody manages their pace differently in a race, but I think Max has become so good at reading a race. That’s because he’s looking at the long game. And I think he’s just got that inner confidence that he knows where he is.Christian Horner said, as reported by motorsport.com

Red Bull’s Dutchman heads into the Las Vegas Grand Prix with a whopping 266-point lead over his teammate Sergio Perez in second in the championship. The gap between the two is larger than the gap spanning the rest of the whole grid, breaking yet another record in a stellar year for Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen “not into” Las Vegas GP due to track layout

Formula One is going to Las Vegas for the first time in four decades in a brand-new track in 2023. The upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix has been advertised repeatedly by F1, being promoted as the ‘most awaited’ race of the year.

Many drivers have expressed slight dissatisfaction with the layout of the simplistic track, Max Verstappen one among them. Verstappen said that the Grand Prix is being held in Vegas for the spectacle, rather than the racing. The World Champion said that the track layout indicates that the race in Vegas is more beneficial to the sponsors and partners for F1 than the sport itself.

First of all, we are there more for the show than the race itself, looking at the layout of the circuit. I’m not actually that much into that, I’m more: ‘I’ll go there, do my thing and be gone’. In terms of racing spectacle, maybe not, but maybe in terms of potential partners for F1, and the whole show around it – but again, I’m not into it.Max Verstappen said speaking to Dazn

The uncertain track grip in Las Vegas due to the freezing temperatures could turn tire strategies interesting. A brand-new circuit coupled with unpredictable strategies could throw a spanner in Red Bull’s near-perfect streak of races won this year. Lando Norris will be looking to improve to P1 after finishing second six times this season, looking very strong in recent weekends.
