In a heart-wrenching twist to an already tragic story, Patrick Clancy was recently seen in New York with his new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, as the trial of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, continues to unfold. The atmosphere was tense, reflecting the emotional toll of the ongoing proceedings surrounding the deaths of their three young children.
On Thursday evening, the couple was spotted in an outdoor area of a Manhattan apartment complex, reportedly looking distressed as they took multiple phone calls. Witnesses noted that Patrick appeared particularly anxious, pacing back and forth while Dr. Danis sat nearby, also engaged in phone conversations.
The couple, who tied the knot in April, spent around half an hour seemingly preoccupied with their phones and each other, their expressions revealing the weight of the situation.
Lindsay Clancy is currently facing three counts of first-degree murder in connection with the tragic deaths of their children—Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and Callan, just 8 months old. The heartbreaking incident occurred in January 2023 at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts. On that fateful day, Lindsay also attempted to take her own life by jumping from a second-floor window, resulting in her current paralysis and reliance on a wheelchair.
Her defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, is advocating for a not guilty verdict based on claims of insanity, arguing that Lindsay was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis at the time of the incident. However, prosecutors contend that the killings were premeditated, asserting that she was not experiencing psychosis during the events.
Testimonies from psychiatrists and other medical professionals have suggested that Lindsay did not exhibit signs of a psychotic state. Disturbingly, during a phone call from her hospital room, she reportedly told Patrick that she heard a voice instructing her to harm her children and herself, a revelation that has left jurors grappling with the complexities of her mental state.
On the morning of the tragedy, the couple exchanged what seemed to be an ordinary text conversation about their daughter Cora’s doctor appointment and dinner plans. Lindsay texted Patrick that everything looked fine with Cora’s health, to which he responded with praise, calling her a “good momma.”
As the trial continues to capture public attention, many are left wondering how this heartbreaking saga will ultimately unfold. What will the jury decide in this emotionally charged case?
