Lizzo puts on a show as she takes to the stage during release party for album Special.

Lizzo celebrated the release of her fourth studio album, Special, with a performance at the iHeartRadio release party.

The Truth Hurts singer dropped her highly-anticipated new album hours before performing the songs live in Burbank, California.

The 34-year-old beamed as she performed for the live audience in a stunning lilac ensemble on Thursday evening.

She wore a sequined, shimmery purple top that broke into tons of feathers at the end of each sleeve, which she matched with lilac shorts.

The Grammy award winner teamed the look with purple lace-up boots, her hair down in a gentle wave and sporting lilac eyeshadow and nails.

Lizzo previously announced her new studio album on Instagram, with the album cover of a photo her smiling, as she wrote: ‘Special is here.’

In a show that the bangers are here, the popstar later retweeted several of her passionate fans’ positive reactions to the 12 new tracks on Twitter.

The album includes her recently released hit singles About Damn Time and Grrrls along with new songs such as Special and 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready).

It comes after Lizzo confirmed she rereleased Grrrls with a lyric change after she received backlash for using an ableist slur in the original track.

Lizzo is known for promoting body positivity and self-love in her music but Grrrrls originally contained a derogatory term in the opening verse.

The artist revealed she would change the lyric and admitted she ‘never want(s) to promote derogatory language’ and added she is ‘dedicated to being part of the change I’ve been waiting to see in the world’.

She has received praised from fans and disability charity, Scope, for correcting the language used in the song.

Alison Kerry, head of communications, told Metro.co.uk: ‘Putting an end to the careless use of harmful language like this helps move us one step further towards an equal society.’

izzo’s fourth album, Special, is out now.
