According to Independent , last week, the petition to completely remove Amber Heard from the movie Aquaman 2 officially reached its goal of 4.5 million signatures. Two days later, when the jury ruled in favor of Johnny Depp in the couple’s highly publicized libel trial, the petition reached 6 million signatures.
The upheaval of Amber Heard’s role in the upcoming Aquaman 2 sequel is a topic of concern for many fans of the film. At trial, Amber Heard said her Aquaman 2 role had her screen time significantly reduced after Johnny Depp’s legal team called her abuse claims a “hoax.”
“I fought very hard to stay in the movie. They didn’t want to put me in the movie,” she said. According to an unconfirmed Hollywood report, Amber Heard appeared in less than 10 minutes of part 2 of the movie about the king of the sea.

DC film head Walter Hamada was also called to testify in court about Amber Heard’s reduced screen time.
“The scale of her role in the film was determined in the early stages of script development,” Hamada said at the trial. This person said that the lack of coordination between Amber Heard and Jason Momoa, who plays Aquaman, was the reason why her role in the film was cut.
Despite the online petition reaching its previous goal of 4.5 million signatures, no one from DC has spoken publicly about the possibility of Amber Heard being replaced or removed from Aquaman 2 . The film is expected to hit theaters in 2023 after a delay.

Only one of Amber Heard’s co-stars from the Aquaman franchise has spoken about working with her in the movies.
Dolph Lundgren said: “She’s amazing. I worked with her on the first Aquaman , now the second one. We shot last fall in London. She’s amazing, I had a Very fun experience with her.”
An online petition to remove Heard from the film first gained traction in November 2020, reaching 1.5 million signatures after Johnny Depp withdrew from the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
In July 2021, Aquaman 2 producer Peter Safran commented on calls to remove Heard from the film. Safran told Deadline about the decision to retain Amber Heard for the sequel.
“I don’t think we’re going to meet those demands, to be honest, it’s pure fan pressure. We feel that, if the roles are different than James Wan and Jason Momoa, then Mera must be played by Amber Heard,” he said.
