Finn Shows Up Drunk To Gregory’s Funeral

General Hospital spoilers tease that Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) has been struggling for the last several weeks with his sobriety. Finn has been under quite a bit of pressure dealing with his father, Gregory Chase’s (Gregory Harrison) declining health.

For months now, Gregory has been progressively getting worse as his symptoms of ALS worsen. There is no cure and both Finn and his brother Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) knew Gregory wouldn’t be around much longer.

Finn and Gregory had a particular nasty argument the day before Chase was to marry Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), Finn didn’t want to leave Gregory alone the night the weddings while everyone else was at the rehearsal dinner.

Gregory said some particularly nasty things to Finn, so he reached out to fellow addict Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn). Alexis had some comforting words for Finn, but also helped him find a nearby AA meeting.

At the wedding reception, Finn accidentally took a drink of champagne before he even realized what he had done. He stopped there taking that drink opened the floodgates as events became progressively worse.

After an emotional night, Gregory died that night in his sleep. Finn found his father had passed away the next morning.

While waiting for the coroner to arrive, Finn took another drink, this time of his own volition. Chances are, it won’t be the last.

As the weight of his father’s death fall on Finn, he’s likely to continue drinking. He will certainly do his best to hide his alcohol consumption from his family. But the more he drinks, the more his behavior will stick out. It could certainly come to a head at his father’s funeral.

Finn could easily have to give a eulogy while drunk. But will the horror of that convince Finn to go stop. With Alexis out of town, will there be anyone who will help Finn get to an AA meeting for his relapse becomes even more dangerous for everyone around Finn?
