For her line about wishing to go back to “the 1830s but without all the racists,” Taylor Swift receives severe backlash.

Taylor Swift’s song “The 1830s, but without all the racists” has caused her to face severe online trolling.

The 34-year-old received an overwhelming amount of support from her passionate fan base when her eagerly awaited new album, The Tortured Poets Department, was released on Friday.

As soon as the song’s lyrics were out, listeners started searching for scathing allusions to her former boyfriends, Joe Alwyn and Matt Healy.

However, she was also made fun of for a single lyric in the song I Hate It Here, which talks about being bored with the modern world.

We used to play a game with my pals where we would choose a decade we wanted we could live in rather than current one. She sang, evoking widespread mockery, “I’d say the 1830s, but without all the racists and getting married off for the highest bid.”

Taylor Swift’s song “The 1830s, but without all the racists” is featured in her Fortnight music video, and it has caused her to be mercilessly mocked online.

One line from the album’s single I Hate It Here, which talks about feeling bored in the modern period, brought her a lot of flak.

After all, it’s ‘quite astonishing to say that she wants to live in the 1830s, ‘but without the racists,’ and not mention slavery, meaning that everyone is fine about slavery still existing,’ said one user of X, formerly Twitter.

“I know I can’t stop talking about Taylor Swift, but why, of all eras, the 1830s?” Someone else penned. “The trail of tears—which I find hard to comprehend—is the most noteworthy incident from that era. Is this one more of her prickly codes?

‘She said ‘without all the racism’.. like it was rain or something lmfaoooo,’ one marveled, to which another responded incredulously: ‘like???? you don’t have the 1830’s without the racism lmao it’s integral’.

Still another X user wrote: ‘To a certain extent I get it like things were extremely simple but 1830’s AMERICA WHERE SLAVERY WAS STILL VERY LEGAL WHATS GREAT ABOUT THAT???? That worries me as a black listener and that’s why I stepped away.’

One social media user insisted that ‘the 1830’s without racism is like a book with no pages,’ and another quipped: ‘why would she pick the 1830s then. what about the 1830s speaks to taylor swift specifically. is she a big fan of andrew jackson’.

In other quarters, Taylor’s new album has been fiercely defended – to the point that a negative review has just inspired the ire of her fans.

The Tortured Poets Department was slammed in a news.com.au piece titled: ‘Taylor Swift’s new album shows one thing: She could use a break’.

‘Faced with 16-odd songs about her boyfriends and breakups, many listeners might be yearning for a return to the days of folklore and evermore, when Swift created fictional stories to illuminate her songwriting’ music critic Nick Bond writes.

A review criticising Taylor’s new album has inspired the ire of the American superstar’s fans. The Tortured Poets Department, the latest release from Taylor which dropped on Friday, was slammed in a titled: ‘Taylor Swift’s new album shows one thing: She could use a break’

The review continues: ”I know I’m just repeating myself,’ Swift sings on My Boy Breaks His Favourite Toys. Listening to The Tortured Poets Department in full, one can’t help but think that’s starting to become a problem’.

Many fans of the pop star were less than impressed with the verdict, with several airing their grievances on social media.

‘It’s a fabulous album. These reviews are written my jealous wanna be writers’ said one person.

‘There’s no accounting for taste. Hope you find some one day’ weighed in another upset fan.

‘This article reminds me of ‘Those who can, do. Those who can’t, criticise” yet one more said.

‘I’m going to give some old age advice to some people who say mean things. If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all’ someone wrote.

‘500K #TSTTPD posts on Twittter right now and I’m struggling to find a negative one… so probably a few people disagree with your review’ another said.

‘Let me check if Taylor Swift cares around your opinion or the men having a cry on this feed… no, she’s good just releasing a secret second album’ one more wrote.

Others however agreed with the lukewarm review.

‘Sorry. I love her but I didn’t love this one. It might grow on me. I’m sure I won’t have choice it’s all we will hear’ said one person online.

During the early hours of Friday morning, Swift dropped her highly anticipated new album, The Tortured Poets Department, alongside an extended double release The Anthology comprising of 31 tracks

‘So basically it’s just like all her other stuff she’s done about past breakups lol. Sounds boring,’ another commented.

During the early hours of Friday morning, Swift dropped her highly anticipated new album, The Tortured Poets Department, alongside an extended double release The Anthology comprising of 31 tracks, which are filled to the brim with Easter eggs and references to her ex-boyfriends, past feuds and latest romance.
