Actor Jensen Ackles of The Boys has hinted at upcoming roles as Soldier Boy.
during his explosive appearance in the third season of the twisted comic book adaptation of Homelander last year, and his subsequent revelation as Homelander’s father, Soldier Boy was ultimately confined to his cryogenic chamber during a confrontation with Billy Butcher and The Boys.
Ackles said that his character will appear in The Boys spin-off Gen V for a “brief moment” and “a few cameos from the mothership” while he was in New Orleans for a Supernatural event this month.
Teasing the improvisational nature of Soldier Boy’s Gen V visit, Ackles recalled of his and showrunner Eric Kripke’s time together (via Collider): “He and I were just, like, we were spitballing ideas and workshopping literally in between takes and coming up with a whole variety of takes.”
As for when fans will see the fruits of their labour, it’s up in the air for now.
The news comes after Kripke previously told Entertainment Weekly that he’d be “100%” down for the third coming of Soldier Boy.
“The old TV adage is like, never kill anyone unless you really, really have to. Never close a door, open a window,” he said. “We’ll all have to wait and see, but I can’t imagine the series ending without Soldier Boy making another appearance.”
Ackles also weighed in on the likelihood, sharing: “I know Kripke is very smart about how he sends his characters off because he can always bring them back. So I know there are plans in talks, but I don’t know exactly what those are.
“But I told Krip, ‘Look, man, put me in anytime. You tell me when to come running, I’ll come running.'”
