The legendary F1 driver spoke openly about how he regretted not being able to star in the Top Gun sequel after he insisted to Tom that he’d be willing to take on the part of the custodian if it meant he would be in the movie.

“I said, ‘Dude, if you ever do Top Gun 2...’-which was not near its conception-‘I will even be a janitor-just let me be in it,’” said Hamilton of his encounter with Cruise.

They both became good friends and Cruise even invited Hamilton to the set of his sci-fi action movie with Emily Blunt “The Edge of Tomorrow” back in 2014.

“My assistant called me: ‘Tom Cruise has invited you to the set.’ I was just like: ‘Shoot, yeah?! Cancel anything, I have,’” Hamilton mentioned.

“it broke my heart to turn down the role”, Hamilton elaborated “And then I regretted it, naturally, when they show me the movie and it’s: ‘It could’ve been me!’”
