‘Unbelievable’ Chelsea player has agreed a new contract, he only signed a new deal in September.

There’s still been a few positives so far during what’s turning out to be another very frustrating year at Chelsea.

The Blues currently sit 11th in the Premier League table following Saturday’s 2-2 draw versus Burnley. Meanwhile, there’s an FA Cup semi-final later this month against Manchester City.

We feel like Mauricio Pochettino’s not yet lived up to expectation at Stamford Bridge as the head coach. However, FootballTransfers reports Pochettino has already picked out a main transfer target for the summer.

The signing of Cole Palmer and the emergence of some academy youngsters is a big plus this campaign.

Apparently, one Blues player has agreed a new deal just months after penning a contract in west London.

The Telegraph claims that Chelsea have agreed a new deal with Alfie Gilchrist to reward him for his first-team breakthrough this campaign.

It is explained that the 20-year-old defender has agreed a fresh contract that should run until 2026 with the option of a further year.

Chelsea confirmed via their official website last September that Gilchrist signed a two-year deal until 2025.

The ball-playing centre-half, who’s mainly been used as right-back this season, has now made 12 first-team appearances this campaign. This included a senior debut for the Cobham academy graduate back in December in the Premier League against Crystal Palace.

We’d consider Alfie Gilchrist loan next season

Gilchrist’s caught the eye immediately with his impact in the Chelsea first team, throwing himself into every challenge and puffing his chest out in tough moments. It’s exactly why the young central defender has quickly become a fan favourite.

Described as a player with an “unbelievable attitude” by John Terry via The Daily Mail, Gilchrist’s future looks immense.

We think he’s ready to grow and develop in first-team football, whether that’s in the top or second division of English football.

Our wish is for him to spend a full season playing senior minutes, preferably in his main centre-back position as well.
