Jennie’s side has denied the news of releasing a solo album in June.
In the early morning of March 31, Korean news site News1 reported exclusively that Jennie will officially release a solo album this coming June. According to News1 , while focusing on album work, Jennie is also making great efforts to plan her solo career after releasing the album.
However, about 7 hours later, Jennie’s side denied the information. Specifically, the representative of Jennie’s management company – ODDATELIER said: “Jennie is trying to make a new song. However, the release date has not been discussed yet whether it will be an album or an EP.”
Jennie’s side denied exclusive information from Korean media revealing that she would return with a solo album in June.
In addition, news site Newsis said that the possibility of Jennie releasing a new song in the first half of this year is unlikely. Because a few days ago, YG Entertainment had a change in the board of directors and announced plans related to BLACKPINK’s activities that were specified this year. Therefore coordination on this issue may be necessary.
YG previously said it would specify BLACKPINK’s activities this year. This may be the reason why Jennie’s side had to deny the information about a comeback in June
Previously on March 29, YG Entertainment held a shareholders’ meeting and announced that it had approved the decision to switch to a single CEO system. More specifically, the current CEO is Mr. Yang Min Seok – younger brother of founder/executive producer Yang Hyun Seok. In addition, YG also appointed external director Kim Dong Hyun as the new chairman of the board of directors.
“This board decision will play an important role in strengthening the company’s innovation capabilities and global competitiveness,” said CEO Yang Min Seok .
Also in this announcement, YG made a statement regarding BLACKPINK: “We will realize the activities of BLACKPINK – the group that signed a group activities contract in December last year.”
