New owner of Man Utd: ‘Buying Mbappe is unwise’

Billionaire Jim Ratcliffe announced that Manchester United will not recruit expensive players like Kylian Mbappe or Jude Bellingham.

“Instead of spending money to recruit Kylian Mbappe to buy immediate success, use the money to invest and find the next Mbappe. Recruiting an expensive player like Mbappe at this time is unwise. Yes. Perhaps everyone can see that ,” Sky Sports quoted the statement of billionaire Jim Ratcliffe – the new investor who bought back shares and took over management of Man Utd not long ago.

The businessman added:  “The first thing we need to do is find the right person for the position of club manager and organization, thereby ensuring that all future transfers are correct. This is the important thing.” “The most important thing for a team. What we want is to find a new Mbappe, a new Jude Bellingham.”

MU will not spend money to buy stars.

After spending more than 1 billion pounds to buy back 25% of Man Utd’s shares, billionaire Jim Ratcliffe is embarking on restructuring the leadership apparatus. He appointed his “right-hand man”, Dave Brailsford, to the Old Trafford team’s leadership team, convincing Omar Berrada to leave Man City to take the position of CEO of Man Utd.

The second richest businessman in England continues to search for personnel for other important positions, including the sports director – who will be responsible for transfers.

Spending large sums of money on stars is not Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s way of doing things. The new owner of Man Utd once complained about the club spending more than 70 million euros to recruit Casemiro, a player over 30 years old. Even Antony’s 100 million euro deal did not satisfy the British billionaire.

In the transfer window earlier this year, MU did not buy more players but said goodbye to a series of names such as Donny van de Beek, Jadon Sancho, Facundo Pellistri. By the summer of 2024, the “Red Devils” will likely only bring in potential young players or recruit players from the academy, instead of detonating “blockbusters” worth hundreds of millions of euros.
