Chelsea are now thinking of Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams as a potential signing this summer.
That is according to a fresh report today from The Telegraph.
Nico Williams, who’s just 21, is a highly-rated attacker doing very well in Spain with La Liga club Athletic Bilbao.
The Spanish attacker’s been in decent form so far this season, scoring six goals and making 11 assists in 27 games across all competitions. Incidentally, that’s more assists than Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer this campaign (10).
He’s now linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Telegraph claims that Chelsea have Bilbao attacker Williams on their radar while they draw up plans for the summer.
It is explained that the Blues are prioritising a new conventional No 9 striker, but they’ve been really impressed by the recent development of the 21-year-old. Bilbao’s fast youngster can play anywhere across the forward line, but it’s usually his preferred position from the left wing.
In addition, the report says that the winger has an affordable £43 million release clause in his current Bilbao contract. His £100,000-a-week wages would put him as one of the highest earners at Chelsea, though.
This comes after journalist Simon Phillips recently shared via his Substack that Chelsea have been scouting Williams all season.
Chelsea interested in Nico Williams
Blessed with serious pace and trickery, Williams looks like a very attractive transfer target in the current market. His bargain release clause stands out, too!
We do anticipate that the Bilbao talisman could do really well in the Premier League with the right club.
However, it would surely raise big question marks around the futures of Blues wingers such as Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke if the club goes all out for Williams at the end of the season.
The club surely can’t continue to keep misfiring blanks in the transfer windows because fans are growing tired and frustraed.
