Chelsea players in £500,000 match as details of incentives get leaked in the press

Chelsea’s players have a decent chance to get an extra little payday this coming weekend, which is nothing to be sniffed at.

The way the press have reported this news though, makes it seem like Chelsea are offering their players a slap in the face.

The Daily Mail report that Chelsea’s players will share a modest bonus pot of just £500,000 if they win the first trophy of the Todd Boehly/Clearlake Capital era in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday.

They claim that Chelsea’s potential £500,000 squad bonus is significantly less than the £1.6million shared by Manchester United’s players after they won the Carabao Cup final last year, which netted them around £65,000 each.

But any kind of bonus at all is amazing for a football player who earns huge amounts of money already. So I am sure the incentive, whether big or small, will help Chelsea’s players in their attempts to bring home the silverware this weekend!
