Jennifer Lawrence didn’t regret being rejected for Robert Pattinson’s iconic franchise, but the loss of one film struck her devastatingly.

Not ‘Twilight’, but losing out on Tim Burton’s 2010 movie devastated Jennifer Lawrence.

From starring in blockbuster franchises like The Hunger Games to her role in critically acclaimed movies like Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence has donned a super-enviable career through the decades. But despite having an Oscar and a number of celebrated projects under her belt, Lawrence still regrets losing a particular role.

Auditioning for Robert Pattinson’s Twilight, Jennifer Lawrence faced a major rejection from the cult classic role. But surprisingly, it wasn’t something that devastated the actress like when she lost out on the titular role in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which later went to Mia Wasikowska.

Jennifer Lawrence was Rejected From Robert Pattinson’s Twilight

Following Jennifer Lawrence’s incredible success within a few years makes it hard for us to believe that barely a couple of decades back the actress was running around Hollywood auditioning for her breakthrough role. Now, the actress is one of the most popular Hollywood stars who appeared in Marvel movies and even won an Academy Award for Silver Linings Playbook.

However, there was a time when Jennifer Lawrence went on auditioning for roles and faced rejection a couple of times. Recalling one such audition where she lost an iconic role, Lawrence spoke about auditioning for Twilight, during an interview on The Howard Stern Show. With the host stating that she would have been perfect for the role, the actress noted what actually happened.

Lawrence was rejected from her role in Twilight

I didn’t really know what it was. When you audition, when you’re like you know a run-of-the-mill actor, you know we’re all auditioning for all sorts of things, you just get like five pages and they’re like, ‘Act monkey.’ When it came out, I was like, ‘Hot damn! Woah!’

Surprisingly, although Jennifer Lawrence was rejected from the role that later went to Kristen Stewart, the actress noted that she didn’t regret losing her part in Robert Pattinson‘s iconic Twilight franchise.

Alice in Wonderland was a Devastating Loss for Jennifer Lawrence

Instead, while discussing further with Howard Stern, Jennifer Lawrence disclosed the particular movie that devastated her, after she lost a titular role in it. Speaking of how she had the particular discussion with Emma Stone, with whom she often auditioned, Lawrence recalled the time when she was rejected from Tim Burton’s 2010 movie.

Jennifer Lawrence was devastated after losing Alice in Wonderland

mma Stone and I actually had this conversation once cause we always auditioned for the same thing, which now seems silly… But the one thing that really killed me, like the only time I’ve ever been truly devastated by losing an audition — ’cause most of the time you’re like, ‘Ah, wasn’t meant to be, move on, what can you do?’ — was Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. That one devastated me.”

Alice in Wonderland went to Mia Wasikowska

Jennifer Lawrence later noted that although she was heartbroken after losing out on the role, she did watch Alice in Wonderland, as soon as it came out. Praising Mia Wasikowska for her prolific performance – who eventually landed the role, Lawrence claimed that she could have never done it the way Wasikowska did.
