Jimin’s solo debut album ‘FACE’ with its hit title track ‘Like Crazy’ have reached new milestones on four different Billboard charts, namely the World Digital Song Sales chart, the Global 200 chart, the Global Excl. US chart, and the World Albums chart.
The chart rankings are based on weekly song and album sales and/or streams, criteria that has highly favored Jimin’s performance on the said charts as both his song and album were well received by the masses and have been widely popular ever since the official release 7 months ago, continuously breaking numerous sales and streaming records on major music platforms like Spotify and iTunes, to mention a few.
As of the latest release of the weekly Billboard charts (dated Oct 28), ‘Like Crazy’ spends its 17th non-consecutive week on the World Digital Song Sales chart, after the song re-entered the chart this week. It thus becomes the longest charting song by a Korean/K-pop solo artist on the said chart in the past decade.
‘Like Crazy’ also spent its 30th consecutive week on the Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts to set a new record as the longest-charting song by a Korean/K-pop solo artist on the Global 200 chart after surpassing ‘Money’ by Lisa, and at the same time extended its record on the Global Excl. US chart as the longest charting solo song by a Korean solo artist on the said chart.
The album ‘FACE’ similarly spent its 30th week on the World Albums chart to also extend its record as the longest charting album by a Korean/K-pop solo artist on the chart after breaking the previous tie and surpassing ‘Indigo’ by RM and ‘Im Nayeon’ by Nayeon.
Jimin’s massive success as a Korean/K-pop solo artist on such key charts that rank music by artists from all over the world, is an affirmation of his strength, skill, and talent as a solo artist. It is also proof of his strong competitiveness on the global music stage even though it is his first solo project. It is expected that he will only reach even higher success levels with his subsequent music releases.
