Erling Haaland takes part in Manchester City training ahead of Liverpool clash

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been pictured in training ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Haaland sparked concerns about his fitness when he was forced to withdraw from the Norway squad due to an injury issue.

The 23-year-old sustained a foot injury in Norway’s victory over the Faroe Islands after coming off the bench to feature as a half-time substitute in the friendly encounter.

With Norway unable to reach Euro 2024, a decision was made for Haaland to miss Sunday’s final qualifier against Scotland.

Despite being forced to leave the Norway camp, there was an expectation that Haaland would be ready for Saturday’s home with Jurgen Klopp‘s side.

Any lingering fears over Haaland’s fitness status have now been dismissed after Man City shared an image of Haaland taking part in Thursday’s training session.

The Norwegian was seen being put through his paces alongside his Man City teammates, including several of those who have been on international duty.

Rodri, who missed Spain’s win over Georgia, was among those players taking part in a session overseen by Man City boss Pep Guardiola.

The Spaniard and Haaland are expected to be two of the names on Guardiola’s teamsheet for the weekend’s crucial Premier League encounter.

Haaland will be looking to continue his fine run of form after scoring braces in four of his last five competitive appearances for the Citizens.

Having netted 13 goals in 12 top-flight matches this term, Haaland is currently leading the Premier League scoring charts ahead of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who has 10 Premier League goals to his name.

While Haaland is expected to be fit for the weekend, Guardiola has a number of other injury concerns, with doubts surrounding the availability of EdersonMateo KovacicMatheus Nunes and Sergio Gomez.

The Man City boss is already without the services of defender John Stones and midfielder Kevin De Bruyne due to muscle injuries.

The league leaders will go into the weekend with a small one-point gap to Liverpool and Arsenal, who sit in second and third place respectively.
