Mahomes, 28, was a guest on ESPN2 during the Broncos-Bills showdown on Monday night.
He joined Peyton and Eli Manning for the ManningCast in the second quarter.
Denver had the ball in the red zone when Eli asked Mahomes: “Do you think the Broncos are going to score and how are they going to score?
“Run, pass? Who are they going to throw it to? What do you like?”
And the Chiefs quarterback responded: “They’re going to run it twice then a hard play action on third and short that’s going to get a touchdown.”
Mahomes’ prediction came true as Courtland Sutton made a brilliant diving catch on third down in the end zone.
A stunned Peyton said: “I don’t recall anyone else predicting run-run-pass combo?”
And fans were also amazed at the sequence, predicting Mahomes may have a career in the commentary booth waiting once he retires.
One wrote: “Looks like he found a career after his playing days are over.”
Another said: “This just shows us how much he knows this game.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted: “Patrick Mahomes has a future as a TV analyst if he wants.”
Mahomes will be in action on the field next Monday night in a Super Bowl rematch.
His Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles – who they beat 38-35 in the NFL’s championship game earlier this year.
The 28-year-old has been using the bye week to recover after a number of injury problems.
He suffered an ankle scare in September against the Chicago Bears.
And Mahomes battled illness during the shock Week 8 loss to the Denver Broncos.
He also flew to Germany for the Chiefs’ last game against the Miami Dolphins and needed tape on his non-throwing hand.
