The ex-wife of a celebrity doctor gunned down in an ambush-style killing has entered a not guilty plea to murder charges, according to court records.
Ahang Mirshojae, 54, of Calabasas, is accused of orchestrating the August 2024 shooting death of Dr. Hamid Mirshojae outside his Woodland Hills medical practice. She appeared in court Monday alongside alleged gunman Evan Hardman, 42, of Tomball, Texas.
Prosecutors claim the plot was driven by financial motives. Hardman reportedly told detectives that Mirshojae first hired him months earlier to attack the doctor and steal two valuable watches. When that assault failed to produce the watches, Hardman allegedly said she offered him $400,000 to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 the physician during a meeting in Agoura Hills.
On the day of the murder, a masked gunman approached Dr. Mirshojae as he walked toward his vehicle on Topanga Canyon Boulevard. He was shot in the head at close range and died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The doctor had been attacked with a blunt weapon just months before his death. Authorities allege Mirshojae’s ex-wife also hired Hardman and another man, Sarallah Jawed, for that earlier assault. Jawed and Ashley Rose Sweeting, who allegedly drove Hardman to and from the shooting, were initially charged but a judge later found insufficient evidence to send them to trial on murder charges.
Dr. Mirshojae, who spent decades in emergency medicine and addiction treatment, counted celebrities, movie stars, and athletes among his patients, according to his professional biography. He had remarried in 2023 and shared a six-month-old daughter with his new wife at the time of his death.
His widow has since filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Ahang Mirshojae and others, alleging the killing was fueled by revenge, jealousy, and financial disputes.
Ahang Mirshojae has denied any involvement. Her attorney argues prosecutors are trying to paint her as the mastermind without solid evidence. Both she and Hardman remain held without bail, with trial scheduled for June 2026.
