Wizards guard Jordan Poole found himself in the middle of an interrogation this weekend while he was signing jerseys for fans in D.C. In a video that has since gone viral online, the young fan strikes up a conversation with Poole, which stars with a question about playing with Stephen Curry. “That guy’s insane,” Poole said. He also set the record straight on his rumored relationship with popular rapper, Ice Spice.
“Definitely not,” said Poole with a smile as his fellow Wizards teammate can be seen laughing in the background.
Known primarily for his title run with the Warriors, Jordan Poole had a falling out with his former team that turned ugly over the season. But as the drama played out with Draymond Green, Poole was secretly hanging with Ice Spice and rumors began to circulate that they were developing some kind of romantic relationship. At one point, Poole was even publicly exposed for spending $500,000 for a date with the New York City native. For whatever reason, it seems like the relationship never panned out the way people believed.
Were Poole And Ice Spice Together?
The rumors reached their peak during the NBA playoffs when Kuzma was caught catching a glimpse at Ice on the sidelines. Once the rumors began to surface, and the date was revealed to the public, fans were convinced that Jordan had secured a new celebrity partner. Some even theorized that his relationship with her had become a detriment to his performance on the court.
For months, the rumors raged on until Poole himself denied them and finally set the record straight. The truth is, there never was a relationship with Ice Spice and there probably never will be unless Poole has a viral, breakout season. While celebrity relationships are nothing new for the NBA (thanks to the Kardashian family), it’s still somewhat of a controversial issue. No matter who the player is, dating someone as famous as Ice Spice or Khloe Kardashian will always come with added risks
Jordan Poole Wants Redemption With The Wizards
After making a name for himself in Golden State, fans turned on Jordan Poole after his incident with Draymond Green went viral last season. In an altercation that was later leaked online, Poole was laid out by his own teammate after talking trash in a pre-season practice. Things were never the same for Poole after that encounter and he was the easy scapegoat for the franchise when they struggled to win games on the road for months on end.
In D.C., Poole is free to play his own brand of basketball without the pressure to win every game. And while the Wizards are not expected to do much as a team this season, this could be a chance for Jordan Poole to rebuild his game and prove himself as a valuable guard in this league. Through five games in this campaign, Poole is putting up 17.6 points, 3.2 assists, and 2 rebounds per game on 41% shooting. There’s obviously room for improvement here, but it’s obvious that he’s much better off in his current situation than he was playing under Steph, Klay, and Draymond Green.
