Cole Palmer has now done something not even Frank Lampard or Didier Drogba could do for Chelsea

Cole Palmer continues to do special things in a Chelsea shirt.

The England international took yet another game by the scruff of the neck tonight, as Everton became the latest Premier League side to suffer at the hands of his talent.

Chelsea’s No.20 had only just bagged a hat-trick against Manchester United last time out at Stamford Bridge before netting yet another inside just 29 minutes against the Toffees, making it six goals in his last 30 minutes of action in west London at the time of his dinked effort sailing over Jordan Pickford.

It is a quite remarkable run of form from Cole Palmer – who now sits on 20 goals in 28 Premier League appearances this season after adding a fourth in the second half – and he has now made history at Chelsea…

Cole Palmer makes Chelsea history

Well, the Blues have housed some true legends of the game.

Chelsea fans have watched the likes of Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Gianfranco Zola, Eden Hazard and Joe Cole dazzle in blue throughout the years.

However, none of them managed to do what Palmer achieved when netting his first goal against Everton tonight.

After the 21-year-old’s curled effort hit the back of the net, it saw him become the first Chelsea player in history to score in seven successive appearances at home in the Premier League.

That is a sensational statistic – to say the least.

It speaks volumes about just how incredible Palmer has been for Chelsea this season – Stamford Bridge has seldom seem a debut campaign like it, in truth.

Best debut campaigns at Chelsea

On that note, it is worth taking a look at where Palmer ranks in terms of those to deliver the best ever maiden campaign in a Chelsea shirt.

One season certainly worth noting is Diego Costa’s first campaign at Chelsea, which saw the Spain international scored 20 goals in just 26 Premier League appearances to fire the Blues to the title.

The aforementioned Zola also enjoyed a memorable debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, winning the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award after firing the Blues to the FA Cup in 1996/97.

While Palmer is yet to lift a trophy this season, he has arguably delivered the most impressive first campaign at Chelsea given the context of this transitional term – and he could still win an FA Cup of his own if the Blues can overcome Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday.
