A new update on The Boys season 5 suggests that Prime Video’s superhero satire show has been renewed, with filming beginning very soon.
The Boys season 5 looks to be confirmed well before the debut of season 4. Although an exact debut date has not yet been revealed, it is known that The Boys season 4 will premiere in 2024. The upcoming episodes will pick up where the third installment left off, zeroing in on the fallout of Homelander murdering a protestor in public. It’ll also feature several new cast members, including The Walking Dead‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
A new page on Productionlist.com shares that filming on The Boys season 5 will occur between April 8 to August 22. However, an official renewal has not been confirmed by Prime Video.
What To Know About The Boys Season 4
There are hints in The Boys season 4 trailer that Homelander (Antony Starr) could be running for office. In the voiceover, a potential political consultant seems to be advising Homelander. The adviser tells him how useful it is to divide people, allowing them to fight among themselves and then swooping in for the rescue. The start of the trailer also previews the presidential campaign of Robert Singer (Jim Beaver) and Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), which was previewed in The Boys season 3 finale and continued in the Gen V spinoff.
Homelander’s son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), who is upgraded as a main cast member after being a recurring character, also factors heavily in the trailer and appears a few times into the new season. Ryan could be aligned with his father, as he smiles when he sees that his father has killed a protestor, which sets up a further divide between Homelander and Butcher (Karl Urban).
The Boys season 4 will welcome new faces and supes, including Firecracker (Valorie Curry) and Sister Sage (Susan Heyward). That’s in addition to Morgan, who worked with showrunner Eric Kripke on Supernatural and looks to be playing Butcher’s partner. With the series very likely returning for a fifth installment, which Kripke has hinted at himself, it’s likely that the story isn’t close to its final chapter just yet.
