Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling shared a special moment at the 2024 British Academy Film Arts Awards on Feb. 18.

When Stone, who won a BAFTA for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her part in Poor Things, walked to the stage to nab her award, Gosling could be seen clapping wildly and winking at the star from his seat, per E! Online. Stone smiled back at him as she approached the stage in a custom-made, single-sleeved peach Louis Vuitton gown.

The pair have reportedly been close friends for years — they appeared together in 2017’s La La Land (for which Stone won a Best Actress Oscar) in addition to co-starring in Crazy, Stupid, Love back in 2011. Stone has shared nothing but props for Gosling through the years since they met, noting at a 2018 Q&A at the Telluride Film Festival that she couldn’t “even imagine what my life would be without Ryan.”

For his part, Gosling has described Stone as being like she’s “constantly opening Christmas presents” in a prior interview promoting Crazy, Stupid, Love, according to E!. In an interview before the 2017 Academy Awards, he said he had “so much fun working with her” on La La Land: “We’ve been really lucky that we were asked to improvise on our first film together, and that’s where we created a connection.”

In addition to thanking the players who brought Poor Things to life at Feb. 18’s BAFTAs, Stone thanked an extra-special someone when accepting her award: her mom. “I really want to thank my mom because she’s the best person I know in the world and … Without her, none of this exists – including my life! So thank you for that, too, Mom!”

Ryan was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor BAFTA as Ken in the Greta Gerwig-directed Barbie.
